Fibroid Tumors- What are they?
What are Fibroids?: Fibroids are benign growths in the uterus. Depending on their location, symptoms of fibroids may be heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, or pressure on the bladder, bowels or back. Fibroids are the most common benign tumor in humans, affecting 40% of women over 40 years of age. They are the reason for one third of all hysterectomies [removal of the uterus] performed each year in the United States. Slightly larger numbers of African American women are affected with fibroids, but they cause suffering for women of all ages and ethnic groups. Symptoms of Fibroids: Uterine fibroids cause different symptoms depending on the fibroids size and position within the uterus. Fibroids may be within the wall, where they are called intramural fibroids. They can be outside the uterus, where they are termed subserosal fibroids. If the fibroids are within the cavity of the uterus they are referred to as submucous fibroids. Submucous fibroids often cause heavy bleeding. Such fibroids need not be large to cause life threatening bleeding. Menstrual bleeding may be very heavy, or a patient may have bleeding outside of the regular cycle of period bleeding. Such fibroids may also cause a woman who is pregnant to miscarry. Subserous and intramural fibroids often cause pain and pressure in the pelvic area. Patients complain that their fibroids cause them to urinate often, and not completely empty their bladder. Similarly, fibroids in this position may cause pressure on the rectum …

Have your Fibroids returned? Ive heard from so many whose fibroids have returned…Ive done some research about the UFE (uterine fibroid embolization) this procedure stops the blood flow to the fibroids and i believe has a better success rate of fibroids not returning.
PhillyDiva19154 on December 5, 2009 at 4:23 pm
praise God…no my fibroids have not come back…and its been over 4 yrs. I do get checked out every 6 months though rather once a year for my obgyn checkup just to be on the safe side and I also take birth control to help regulate my cycle and they help.

Have any of you all heard of systemic enzymes? I would research it because it’s worth it, in efforts to resolve issues with fibroids. I bought it from Whole Foods, and the actual product name is ViraStop, it has something in it that eats away at the fibrin, which is what the fibroids are made of. we begin losing our systemic enzymes around age 27 which helps our bodies heal, and eliminate excess fibrin. The excess fibrin stays in the body, and forms things such as uterine fibroids.
edjulw on December 12, 2009 at 10:56 am
excess fibrin also causes other ailments in our bodies. Just please research systemic enzymes or proteolytic enzymes. It’s worth it. And get really extensive with the research as I have. You can not take it with any blood thinners though

Hello PhillyDiva19154!
Was it the recovery that was the worst? I found out i have 3 of them a couple months back and my gyn immediately put me on contraceptives to shrink them gradually. (They’re only about an inch a piece right now.)
How long did you stay in the hospital and what happened after you went home the first couple weeks?
tillyhouses on April 24, 2010 at 2:39 pm
Miss PhillDiva I have three fibroids and I have been taking herbs for my fibroids and
so far it is working for me but I’m a older I be 51 this year. But the herbs are working check out the new body herbs and it works. check with your health food stores. The natural way do work. I hope that this will help you.

You never need a hysterectomy for fibroids unless you have the wrong doctor. Fibroids are not a disease, they’re your genetic blueprint, they run in the family. If the women in your family tend to develop fibroids, you might too. Fibroids grow until you reach menopause, then they slowly, gradually shrink to a negligible size. Watch the video and learn more about fibroids, female anatomy and the functions of the female organs.

I came across your video while sitting up late worrying about my surgery that will be done this Thursday…I have researched the procedure online, and the info has been helpful, while actual pictures and videos of the procedure has brought me to tears…
I have 5 fibroids that are going to be removed. I just wanted to say thank you for putting the information out there and that your daughter is gorgeous… Having children is my main motivation for having this surgery….

Your baby is really cute! I was looking for information on these fibroids because I knew I had them but since last week had strange pain in stomach can’t walk properly seen gyae today told fibroid now size of 16 week pregnancy plus 2 cysts on left ovary, that was not there before – so upset! What the hell do I do with the cysts and why have I got 2? It looks like I will have to remove them after all! scared!.
PhillyDiva19154 on July 20, 2010 at 4:17 pm
@winiver77 I know you are scared and so was I…get yourself an excellent OBGYN specialist and surgeon and leave the rest to God.
ETANI83 on August 6, 2010 at 11:44 am
Lots of info on how to do if but what would really be helpful to know is how did you pay for the surgery? Or did your health insurance covery it completely? Please go into detail how you went about paying for this.
PhillyDiva19154 on August 6, 2010 at 4:49 pm
@ETANI83 myomectomy or hysterectomy are covered by all major insurance carriers. I paid for nothing…its not cosmetic surgery…its reconstructive because its removal of blood tissue that can become fatal i.e. cancer or death if not treated.
marsimone1 on September 2, 2010 at 1:24 pm
I recently had a uterine fibroids embolization (UFE) i have over 30 plus fibroids as detected by an MRI. This procedure was less risky than myomectomy and hysterectomy. Thanks for sharing.
