Essential massage oils are also used for aromatherapy. Aromatherapy helps to improve ones emotional and mental well being.

Such lifestyle stresses as increased work hours, more physical activities, and more financial stresses, have resulted in many people seeking therapeutic massage treatments. Here’s a little meditation story I call the “Meditation Power Walk”.

One of the ways I cured my own depression five years ago was by discovering how to use a incredibly powerful technique called the “meditation power walk” I’ve found that the technique works equally powerfully for anger, jealousy resentment, worry and stress.
In-fact it can re-balance any extreme emotional disturbance. But the real power of this technique, is it trains your mind to accept responsibility for your emotional state. When you do this, you won’t need to take the walk anymore, because the process will be internalized. You’ll just fly through it mentally. And it will become a mental habit which keeps you feeling good.

So how does the technique work ?
Imagine…you are feeling the unwanted emotion of “fill in the blank”… But today, you decide that you are going to take action to change your feelings. You put on your walking shoes, and prepare for a circular walk of one hour length as your walking out the door now (mentally)… You look into the future you imagine it’s an hour from now and your coming home again feeling refreshed balanced…. and just plain good.

You reassure yourself that you have the power to make this change gently over the course of one hour. You feel relieved that you have a whole hour to make this change

You are confident that you have the ability to do this… and you will as you’ll see.. As you begin to walk you take your mind off of any problems consciously, this is much easier now that you are moving your body..

there are things to notice around you, preferably natural things you begin to use a counting meditation, by counting your steps.. Mentally do this now to practice..

four steps as you breathe in 1, 2, 3, 4
two steps as you hold your breath 1, 2
four steps as you breathe out 1, 2, 3, 4
two steps of empty lungs 1, 2
four steps as you breathe in 1, 2, 3, 4
two steps as you hold your breath 1, 2
four steps as you breathe out 1, 2, 3, 4
two steps of empty lungs 1, 2

If you continue the count for the entire walk, you will come home feeling wonderfully refreshed. And your unconscious mind will begin to learn and take on the attitude that you have the power and control to determine your emotional state.
Thanks for reading, hopefully this helps

The Gayatri Mantra is considered the most powerful Hindu mantra. It comes from the Vedas, which are the ancient Hindu scriptures, and is the most revered of all Vedic mantras. Although, this mantra is used for different meditations and prayers, in this article, I am going to teach you how to use the Gayatri Mantra to open the all important Third Eye Chakra.

The Third Eye, or Ajna Chakra, is part of the Kundalini Yoga Seven Chakra system. This system postulates that there are seven energy vortexes that lie along the spine, which help to transmute energy between the physical and subtle bodies. Each of these chakras are responsible for the health of the organs in the region where they lie, and are also responsible for certain mental and emotional traits and characteristics. Of these seven chakras, the Third Eye is one of the most important.

The Third Eye Chakra is located in the center of the forehead and is responsible for one’s power of intuition and ability to see the unseen. The Third Eye is also responsible for Psychic Powers and it’s activation often leads to the attainment of such powers. Although the seed mantra for the Ajna Chakra is the AUM mantra, the Gayatri Mantra is also a powerful tool to help open this center.

Below I will first provide the Sanskrit text of the Gayatri Manra and it’s English translation. Following that I will teach you how to use this powerful mantra to open the Third Eye Chakra.

Highest Hindu Vedic Mantra: The Gayatri Mantra

Om Bhur Buvaha Svaha
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi
Dhiyo Yonaha Prachodayath

Although there are several interpretations of this mantra, in my view, the one below is the best.

Gayatri Mantra English Translation

O Supreme Creator, Thou art the giver of life, the remover of pain and sorrow and the bestower of happiness; O Creator of the Universe, may we receive Thy supreme sin-destroying light; may Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

Gayatri Mantra Third Eye Chakra Meditation:

This particular technique of using the Gayatri Mantra, also involves using the power of mudras. Mudras are eye, hand and body positions that activate certain subtle energy flows in the body, and create favorable states of consciousness as well. They are very useful for going deeper into meditation or changing the energy flows in the body. The mudra used in this Third Eye meditation is the Shambhavi Mudra.

To apply Shambhavi Mudra you will close your eyes, and then turn the eyeballs up and look through the center of the forehead. This position helps open the Third Eye and will enhance the affects of the mantra. For more details on mudras, you can visit my free website at AnmolMehta.Com.

So to practice Gayatri Mantra meditation to open the Third Eye Chakra you would sit up comfortably, close your eyes and turn them upwards to look through your forehead. Only hold this eye position as long as comfortable. Then chant the Gayatri Mantra while visualizing it emanating from the center of the forehead. Continue this meditation for 5 minutes initially, and it can be slowly build up to 20 minutes or more over time.

Gayatri Mantra Meditation Summary:

There are many benefits to this meditation, and you will find that, in addition to opening the Third Eye, chanting the Gayatri Mantra will give you a great deal of peace and tranquility as well. One important note is that please don’t over do this potent meditation. Make sure start slowly and build up your capacity over time. The Gayatri Mantra is a great gift and used wisely, it can be a great tool for inner transformation and transcendence.

Guided meditation techniques have become increasingly accepted by many doctors as a supplement to conventional medical care. They have come to realize that meditation, if practiced correctly, can help patients who have just undergone surgery heal faster, or those who have a serious disease to slow its progress. Meditation is also not specifically a religious practice and can be performed by anyone, even those who do not adhere to any particular faith. There are three types of meditation which have been adopted by many doctors – transcendental meditation, the relaxation response and mindfulness meditation.

Transcendental meditation or TM is a technique originally developed in India by the Maharishi Maresh Yogi, and which has become one of the most practiced of guided meditation techniques. TM involves the use of a mantra, a short word or sound which the meditating person repeats over and over again to focus his attention; when the mind begins to drift, the meditator gently pulls his attention back to the mantra. Transcendental meditation is performed twice a day, for twenty minutes per session. Medical studies have shown that practicing TM can help lower high blood pressure and reduce stress, thus cutting the risk of heart disease and stroke.

The relaxation response is one of the most effective relaxation mediation techniques; essentially it is TM but removed from its Eastern religious context. The relaxation response is done by first sitting up straight in a chair, then breathing deeply and slowly, becoming aware of each breath you take. When you exhale, say your mantra. When your attention begins to wander, passively guide it back to your breathing and your mantra. Do this for twenty minutes per session, at least three to four times a week or daily if you can. Doing this instantly will not only help reduce your stress levels, it will help you to concentrate and become more aware of your surroundings.

Mindful meditation is a traditional Buddhist practice. In formal mindfulness sessions, the person sits for 45-60 minutes a session, focusing on their breathing and the sensations they experience. When thoughts wander, the meditator simply notes them without reacting. In informal mindfulness practice, the person simply tries to be as aware as possible of everything going around him or her. The point of this practice is simply for the meditators to develop awareness of what is happening in the present moment.

In the wake of an increasing amount of scientific evidence validating its health benefits, many hospitals are now offering guided meditation classes as part of the overall health care services that they offer. For example, relaxation meditation is an effective treatment for those with chronic pain, as it reduced their dependence on medication to manage their pain levels. TM was also seen as effective in helping those who practiced it break their dependence on alcohol, drugs and tobacco. No adverse effects have also been reported among meditators; however, meditation is not recommended for those with psychotic disorders, severe depression and other personality disorders unless they also underwent some form of medical or psychological treatment.

Yoga is a 3,000-year-old, Hindu discipline of mind and body that became known in Western society with the hippie generation of the Sixties and early Seventies. Its image as a mystic practice is disappearing as fast as the stressful aspects of the 21st century are appearing. More and more people are turning to yoga not as a spiritual or religious practice but strictly as a means to optimize health and well being.

As an effective method of stress management, yoga is spreading into the business world, the helping professions, nursing and old age homes, and is used in the treatment of alcoholics, hyperactive children and youngsters with learning disabilities. Yoga centers are getting stiff competition from adult education classes of community colleges, boards of education and parks and recreation departments.

The meaning of yoga is union of the body, mind and spirit with truth. There are many kinds of yoga to study, and there can be endless years of practice for the willing student. With the amount of information being shared on the internet these days, anyone can easily get started or advance their practice with ease and low or no cost.

Hatha Yoga is among the most popular forms in the west. It emphasizes the practice of postures, which stretch and strengthen the body, help develop a sense of balance and flexibility, as well as body awareness and mental concentration. All forms of yoga incorporate the practice of proper breathing techniques for relaxation, to rest the mind from its constant chatter, to experience an internal calm, and to energize and purify the body.

As stress levels in society reach new heights, Raja Yoga, the yoga of meditation, is growing in popularity in Western society, while others, such as Krya Yoga, the yoga of cleansing, and Mantra Yoga, the yoga of chanting, not surprisingly, have little appeal for newcomers. With so many variations of yoga available now and developing all the time there is literally a form for any personality type, religious belief or lifestyle.

Stretching and toning, though beneficial, aren’t the primary reasons people turn to yoga. Newcomers are hoping that yoga will provide them with a means for handling stress and diffusing tension. The difference between exercise and yoga is that yoga has a meditative quality. Through the combined use of exercise and meditation yoga may be the most effective methods of staying in shape, being healthy and happy and dealing with modern day stress.

A lot of people are exercising for the psychological benefits and trying many of the Eastern activities, like yoga and tai chi. Martial arts such as Kung Fu and Karate are another forms of combined physical fitness and meditation that is growing in popularity. However, since yoga seems to have a calming effect on people it may be more suited to most people.

Yoga techniques work on children as well as adults. When your children are quarreling, ask them to stop what they’re doing, raise their arms over their heads, lean forward and breathe deeply to help diffuse their anger. It definitely helps them to cool it. Simple implementation of yoga practices like this are easy to do once you gain even the most basic understanding of yoga. Learn a few breathing techniques and poses and do them everyday for a few weeks and you will be off to an excellent start.
