Chances are that your heard the words “cosmic meditation” but aren’t really sure what they mean or how cosmic meditation is different from other types of meditation practice.

Other names for cosmic meditation include “grounding meditation” and “cosmic energy meditation”.

Its popularity has grown with the movie “The Secret” and also because it’s partially associated with Cosmic Ordering, popularized by Barbarah Mohr and in the UK by the resurrection of Noel Edmonds broadcasting career.

As you’d expect from a relatively new phenomenom, cosmic meditation is a blend of old and new meditation practices.

As with the majority of meditations, the primary aim is to help you to quiet your mind and generally calm down. Which in today’s modern world is a good aim in and of itself. Most guided meditation sessions start with asking you to lie down or sit down. They then move on to focusing on your breathing and cosmic meditation is no different at this stage. Deep breathing helps you to relax and to bring a stillness and calmness into an otherwise hectic world.

The main body of the meditation session is where things start to get slightly different. Instead of concentrating on further relaxation or on healing your body, cosmic meditation helps you to connect with the full energy of the cosmos.

It does this by reinforcing the connection we all have with the outside world, whether we realize the connection or not.

The method is often referred to as grounding because of the emphasis on connecting to the world around you. You’ve heard the description that someone seems grounded and it’s that experience that cosmic meditation aims to achieve.

Most visualizations will therefore guide you to the links you have with the outside world. These links can be anywhere that you can connect with, regardless of whether or not you’ve actually been to the place being visualized.

A favorite of mine has a visualization where you see yourself barefoot in the grass with roots extending from the soles of your feet. Then, like a string tree, you feel the energy from the earth flowing up through you and filling your body with energy. Finally, the energy build-up is so big that it overflows and fills the space around you.

This kind of “connected” feeling is a common experience with cosmic meditating. It’s also part of the purpose – the meditation method wouldn’t be as good if it didn’t connect you to the cosmos.

The chances are that you too like most people find yourself rushing in and dashing out from morning to the time you hit the bed. stress has enveloped our lives like never before but tension can be controlled if you can plan and organize your life a bit better. Treasure the fact that is absolutely all right to say no and because of this natural inability, most people go over-the-top in trying to keep a word given to somebody. They might feel that by saying no, they will disappoint others, but the only person they end up letting down is them self because there is no time left to do what they desire to do.

Individuals fail to keep track of their own priorities and over-extend themselves to the extent that they nearly bend over backwards to please others, ignoring their own basic needs. How many times in the recent past has work kept you away from lunch or your exercise schedule? If you are one of them who often experience these things, take time off and prepare 2 lists. One, list out the things, which are most fundamental to you in order of priority, and the 2nd list should illustrate all your actions through out the day. Compare the two lists: Do they match up? If not, you need to make some changes and think to always make time for that you are.

Some ways of tension control -

Handling your money – Taking up 2 jobs or working endlessly for long hours are popular amongst individuals who are trying to make a better living. Take a long, hard, look at your debt circumstances – are there things that you could cut back on to ease the debt pressure you are under? If you manage your money more judiciously, your stress level would drop and you would not have to work so hard.

Remain organized at home and at the office: Looking for lost items or papers is a massive time waster. Of course the stress that you go through as you enter a chaotic home after a long hard day at the office.

Minerals can assist you – Vitamin C and B complex and proven tension relievers. Further, minerals are great components to combat the daily damage, which your physical body is experiencing from the continual mental anxiety.

Take music treatment – Music since time immemorial has soothed the mind and the body. It can go a long way in alleviating stress so listen to your preferred music on your commute to and from work and while at work, if allowed.

Employ breathing exercises – This is something that can be done anywhere. This has astonishing powers to ease tension and calm the mind.

Grow the power of positive thought – For most people this is one of the hardest things to do. It is true that individuals who view things positively have lower tension levels, are happier and have minimal health troubles.

These ideas may not help you become less busy, but they will assist you to manage it all. Think there is only one individual who matters in your life and that is you, so get busy by all means, but learn to cope with the situation.

A chakra meditation can either focus on one chakra or, more typically, each of the 7 chakras in turn.

It is generally thought that your chakras reflect your “chi” or life force energy. Like anything else in your body, it is possible for your chakras to get out of balance. Which means that the object of this meditation is to rebalance your energy fields.

Sit, stand or lie down. Whichever you are most comfortable with. Then start your relaxation as normal by taking a few deep breaths and allowing your eyes to slowly close.

You can either visualize your energy being balanced in each of the appropriate locations or you may prefer just to see the different colors associated with each zone. A lot of people find it easier to just see colors in the approximate location in their body rather than going back to high school biology lessons and having to actually visualize the different internal body organs.

So we’ll take the color approach here.

Start with your root chakra. This is red in color and is located at the base of your spine. Imagine a glowing ball of red light that grows in strength each time you breathe in and out. If the globe starts to spin, allow it to do this. You may even notice the spinning getting faster and the light glowing brighter – that’s fine.

The next chakra to pay attention to is your sacral chakra, found in the region of your abdomen. This is orange in color and influences your creativity. As before, allow this color to grow in strength and to spin if it wants to.

After that, it’s your solar plexus chakra, which is colored a golden yellow. In case you’re not sure, your solar plexus is found just under your belly button and is associated with “gut” reactions.

The heart chakra is the next to get your attention. It’s an emerald green color and you allow it to grow in intensity, you may well feel the feelings of love that are associated with it.

Moving further up your body is your throat chakra. This one has a pale blue light and is your center for expression (so the artist in you will love it when you get here!)

Next is the brow chakra, also known as your third eye chakra. As you’d expect, this can be found on your brow or forehead. This relates to your intuitive nature and is a deep indigo blue in color.

Finally, it’s your crown chakra which is located at the top (or crown) of your head and has a violet light. This chakra is your connection to the universe or the divine, depending on your point of view. Once this color is spinning nicely, visualize each of the other colors below it in your body also spinning in unison.

Then “open up” your crown chakra to the universe and allow an intense beam of white light to beam itself down from the heavens, filling your body with its radiance and maybe even going right the way down into the ground as your roots.

In your own time, close each color chakra in turn, letting them slow down in speed but keeping their bright, radiant colors.

Gradually allow your body to return to the conscious world.

Cosmic ordering is a way of getting the Law of Attraction to work for you.

Quickly and easily.

Sounds great! But does it really work? Can you actually get anything you want in life, delivered to you with no effort on your part?

Well…

Almost…

If you’ve not heard of the Law of Attraction, all this probably sounds weird and “off the wall”. So before we examine Cosmic ordering, let’s take a quick look at the Law of Attraction:

Put simply, whatever you focus on you will attract to you.

That’s because your subconscious mind notices you thinking about various things and it therefore decides those things are what you want.

Our subconscious mind doesn’t criticize. So if you’re focusing on lack or staying just above the poverty line, guess what your subconscious thinks you want? Yes, lack of things. Even if you’re regularly chanting positive affirmations, if most of the time you are thinking about the lack of good things around you then your subconscious will work towards making that happen for you.

Grrr!

Cosmic ordering helps turn that around.

Again, put simply it’s just a matter of putting a thought or intention out to the universe, sitting back and waiting for that to happen.

Of course, there’s a bit more to using the cosmic ordering service than that. But the good news is there isn’t much more to it.

Placing your order with the Cosmos (or universe or higher being or whatever else you’re comfortable calling this) is the starting point.

Because the Cosmos takes things literally, the actual wording of your order has to be very specific. Negative words are ignored. So if your order involves not wanting poverty, the Cosmos will ignore the word “not” and will assume that you are wanting poverty. Which almost certainly wasn’t what you had in mind.

So the first step is to very carefully word the order that you are going to place with the Cosmos.

The more detail, the better.

If you just want a “new car” then you may end up with a new car but it could easily be a toy one. Or a new car for an hour in the form of a test drive.

The more specific you are with your cosmic orders, the better. And the more likely they are to come about.

So if your “new car” order turns into one that covers owning the vehicle outright, the color and model, all the “extras” that car companies love to put in your way, absolutely everything down to your reflection in the rear view mirror. Then the universe knows what it is supposed to deliver to you and your cosmic order becomes much more likely to happen.

Will all this occur without any input from you?

Sometimes it will. Maybe you’ll win the car. Or some generous aunt or uncle will pay for it.

More often, you’ll have to put some work in to make your cosmic order happen. Likely not much work as you’ve got the whole of the universe on your side.

Give it a try – you’ll be pleasantly surprised how often you can use the cosmic ordering service to get your dream results.

There are many different ways to meditate.

No particular method of meditating is more “right” than another, it’s simply a matter of finding out the meditation method that works best for you.

You may even find that the method that works best for you varies according to your own mood or what you are looking to achieve in a given meditation session.

Let’s take a look at the more common meditation methods:

1. Guided meditations. These can be given “in person” (they are often used in large events like the ones given by Tony Robbins and Christopher Howard) or they can be pre-recorded and you can listen to them in the comfort of your own home. Guided meditations can take many different forms. They can range from general relaxation meditations through to specific meditations to help you find a solution to a personal or a health problem that is causing you issues.

2. Breathing meditations. These are exactly what they sound like – you will concentrate on your breathing as the main focus of the meditation. Typically a breathing meditation will start with you noticing your breathing, paying attention to how you breathe and then moving on to taking deeper breaths (inhaling longer, holding your breath and then slowly exhaling). That said, breathing meditations can be a lot more energetic if you want them to be – some breathing meditations will get you to follow through the whole process with arm and body movements. These are excellent for recharging your energy and giving you new levels of vitality.

3. Cosmic ordering. This has been popularized with The Secret and The Law of Attraction. Cosmic ordering is a sub-set of meditation where you focus on something that you want to attract into your life. You will then visualize whatever it is that you want to attract (love, money, health, etc) and it is this visualization process that is often done in a meditative state.

4. Yoga. This ancient technique is often combined with meditation to enhance the effect of both the yoga and any associated meditation. You can get yoga classes and instructions for download on the internet or you may prefer the social interaction of joining a local yoga class.

5. Electronic meditation. Our modern lifestyle encourages us to look for rapid results. Electronic meditation CDs and MP3s can be just the answer to this. Combining relaxing sounds – often rainfall or meditative music – with “binaural beats” which encourage your brain to drop quickly into a meditative state, these modern electronically generated meditations are helping many people who just haven’t got the time to spend developing their meditative techniques.

Many people start their journey into meditating by using a breathing meditation.

After all, it sounds easy to do and that’s very true.

The simplest breathing meditations can be practiced literally any time, any place. And no-one need know you’re meditating unless you decide to tell them.

So how can you practice this technique anywhere?

Just take a few seconds to notice your breaths. Feel the air as it flows through your nostrils, down your airway and into your lungs. Gently filling your lungs with vital oxygen from the air all around you.

Once your lungs have filled then – if it’s appropriate – hold your breath. Maybe only for a split second. Maybe for a bit longer – like a second or two.

Then breathe out. Again, pay attention to how the air feels as it travels back up your airway and leaves through your mouth or nostrils.

If you repeat this process a handful of times, you’ll almost certainly feel calmer and more relaxed.

Of course, you can make a breathing meditation more complicated than this. Although deep down, at its essence, you’ll still be breathing in and out.

For a more structured session, find a quiet place. Maybe it’s a room in your home. Or a seat in your garden or a local park. Turn off your cell phone and the television. If you’ve got noisy children or animals, move away from them if that’s an option. This won’t take long – 10 to 30 minutes is usual.

You can then perform your breathing meditation in much the same way as above. But because of the quiet location you’ve chosen, chances are that you’ll start to notice things around you that were hiding from you in plain sight before. These “things” may be sounds – bird song, distant traffic noise, bees buzzing around gathering honey, water babbling in a brook if you’re lucky enough to be in that kind of location. Or they could be aromas (hopefully pleasant ones!).

If you’ve closed your eyes for your breathing meditation, you may notice that colors are more vibrant when you open your eyes again.

Don’t worry if you don’t notice any of these things the first few times you practice this technique. We’re all different and some people will notice all kinds of items almost immediately whilst others take several sessions. Be content regardless of this. And rest assured that you’ve “done” the technique correctly so long as you’ve breathed in and out.
