Self hypnosis is a subject that is not only surrounded by many myths, but many people also have the wrong conception of what it is and what it can do. Even a casual mention of this subject to the everyday person can elicit a response that shows how little the subject is known and understood. Many people in fact consider it to be magic and even the mass media has portrayed it as such. However, properly used, self hypnosis can help a person achieve growth in their personal lives, and it can also help in developing the self.

Used For Rehabilitation In Hospitals

Self hypnosis, in fact, has also been used as a means of rehabilitation in many medical hospitals and facilities throughout the world and with a lot of success as well. In case you need change and want to improve your physical and mental well-being you need to consider using self hypnosis as a means of actualizing these goals.

Though self hypnosis has been used by a good many people that have found it to be useful, there are some inherent dangers to it as well that needs to be understood and avoided. It is therefore necessary to take precautions before attempting self hypnosis so that the chances of any mishap are eliminated or reduced.

Self hypnosis can be quite complex and it does, at the very least, involve placing the self under a trance-like situation to promote relaxation and enter the subconscious mind. Once you succeed in hypnotizing you, your subconscious will be awoken and any suggestions you make to it will be received in a more positive way thereby ensuring that your mind responds in the desired manner.

The only trouble with self hypnosis is that it can become dangerous under certain situations such as when you wander outdoors while still hypnotized and do things that can harm you. In addition, you might do things unknowingly that may put your life in danger. In fact, you will become vulnerable when performing self hypnosis and to avoid risking your well-being you must ensure that you do things in a manner that ensures your wellbeing.

One way of ensuring that self hypnosis works for you without endangering your life is to take recourse to using a self hypnosis CD which is normally readily available on the market today. Or, you can eschew trying self hypnosis and opt instead for safer methods of achieving personal wellbeing including getting a professional hypnotist to hypnotize you or you can even consider using brainwave enhancement to help you achieve your goals.

What does it take to become a master meditator? What traits and characteristics are a must and what attitudes must you adopt to achieve this lofty goal?

Since my teenage years I have had an incessant, deep, burning desire to become such a master meditator and over the years, in the pursuit of this passion, I have learned what it takes in order to be such an expert. In this article, I would like to share with you my findings on that. Hopefully, this experience will help you on your own such journey in achieving mastery of this highest of arts.

4 Requirements of Becoming a Master Meditator:

1. Passion:

There is little chance of mastering the art of meditation, if you are not passionate about spirituality and the mysteries of life. A subtle art like meditation, and the consequential changes it brings, needs you to be in for the long haul. It is unlikely that a quick excursion into this spiritual science will yield a champion meditator. So you need the necessary interest to run the marathon required for this endeavor.

You will notice conspicuously missing from this list will be willpower or discipline. This is because I feel that strong, abiding passion will forge the necessary practice you require for developing mastery in meditation.

2. Leisure:

Yes that is correct. For you to develop self knowledge, leading to self realization, you need free time to explore the inner walls of your mind. This may be the leading obstacle for spiritual growth today. We are all just way too busy, and the little free time we do have, we squander in mindless entertainment. The hard part here is that entertainment is also very important in order to live a balanced life, so to keep that, as well as have time for daily sadhana (spiritual work), you simply need to find ways to simplify your life, slow down and get more leisure out of your day.

Time and again, I see great spiritual growth and peace permeate people’s lives when they downshift and make time for meditation and daily sadhana. And if you want to be a champion meditator and enjoy the benefits of that, then you too must back off from endless self-aggrandizing pursuits and re-evaluate your time and ambitions. There is no end to ambition and if you are not careful, you will end up old with nothing to show for all your struggles except a big pile of junk.

3. Sacrifice:

Unfortunately this is part of the equation as well. This can be especially hard for those who have many varied interests and realize that to master meditation, you simply have to give up some of these hobbies in order to make time. To make matters worse, if you are a perfectionist or one who insists on doing things well, hobbies can become even more time consuming, thus requiring you to sacrifice them at least for a while.

In addition to giving up hobbies, other sacrifices are also often required. You may have to do without certain material amenities in order to work less, may have to give up certain friends who are incompatible with a spiritual life style, change your eating habits to have better more refined energy, drop the excessive boozing and drugging so you can purify your system, etc, etc.

4. Detachment:

A certain freedom from material gains and certain aloofness to physical discomfort are also key elements of developing into a master meditator. The process of spiritual evolution is not always pleasant or easy on the body, so it demands being able to bear some of this pain of spiritual growth. In addition, not needing immediate gratification and rewards from one’s meditation practice, ensures you will be able to stay the course till the very end, patiently and persistently.

Summary:

So if your heart is telling you that spirituality and God are indeed the answer to life. Listen! Your heart is guiding you well. This means, you have the passion already and now just have to put in the hard work. Go for it, the rewards are indeed worth the effort. You will not regret it.

Conversational Hypnosis is an art that takes a certain set of skills in order to master. These skills are quite attainable when the correct instruction and study of hypnosis has been focused on.

Conversational hypnosis is the practice of inducing hypnotic trances through the focused skills learned in language, speech and suggestion. The primary objective is to induce a trance in order to accomplish a motivated outcome or reach a specific purpose; for example ease emotional pain, enhance health, and lead a happier life.

The skills most required of you as the hypnotist are to master a signal recognition system, develop a relationship with your subject beyond rapport, learn the foundations of hypnotic language and advanced hypnotic language, develop authority strategies, recognize emotional triggers, destroy resistance as well as become skilled in conversational induction, conversational trance formulas and advanced frame control.

All of these skills will help you attain the highest level of success in conversational hypnosis and achieve a better life for your subjects as well as for yourself.

Signal recognition systems are the foundation in hypnosis training from which you will start to see when a subject is entering a hypnotic trance. These skills will aide you in opening your senses to the signs given by your subject when becoming hypnotized.

Signal recognition will save you time in that you will be able to quickly asses when your subject is in trance instead of using unnecessary time to talk you subject into hypnosis. You will learn to see, hear and feel when people are responding to you hypnotically.

This skill will also allow you to see those around you moving in and out of hypnotic trances produced everyday by their environments. The signal recognition system is important to master and continue to study as it is a core fundamental skill you will use throughout your study and practice of hypnosis.

Everyday we develop rapport with people, friends, family and strangers. In conversational hypnosis it is important to learn to move on beyond the normal constraints of typical rapport and to develop deeper relationships with your subjects.

In hypnosis you and your subject are developing an intimate relationship that allows you as the hypnotist into your subjects mind, to understand and ultimately control certain thoughts through suggestion and language.

In order to accomplish this you must go beyond rapport and embody an intense connection that allows your subject the unconscious freedom to do something simply because it pleases them to please you.

This can be considered an abnormal or skewed relationship in that the subject allows you into their world and will follow your lead through the conversations, language and suggestions you give to them. This is a very powerful and unique connection.

Conversational hypnosis is just that, there is an art to the language you as the hypnotist need to master. Part of this skill is found in hypnotic language foundation and advanced hypnotic language. The main idea is that conversational hypnosis is attained through language.

You need to learn how to shape the conversation you are having with your subject in a way that makes the words you speak themselves hypnotic, causing your subjects mind to set off into hypnotic state that responds to you in hypnotic ways. This skill should get strong focus from you as you master hypnosis techniques.

In the language you use for hypnosis you will also want to develop your authority strategy. Authority strategy is a tactic that is required in order to be a successful hypnotist.

It allows you to phrase suggestions in a way that the conscious mind of your subject responds, without this skill you will not be able to attain your goals as a hypnotist.

The authority strategy gives your subject the will and wants to carry out your hypnotic suggestions, if you are not the authority within their trance the subject will not listen to your suggestions. This skill is fundamental as it will be a large piece of the puzzle that will aide in your success as a hypnotist and allow you to achieve your goals in hypnotism.

Emotional triggers are the way to your subjects unconscious responses, once you learn to control emotional triggers you will have the power to control the pictures and feelings that govern a subjects mind and ultimately change their life.

This skill will give you access to pictures and feelings from within your subjects mind. As you perfect this skill you will be able to be able to alter feelings that lead to a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life for your subject. This will aide in your objective to create rewarding and wonderful happiness for those who attain your services.

In conversational hypnosis there is often resistance and this brings us to the next fundamental skill you will need to acquire. How you as the hypnotist will destroy this resistance, the most popular way being through the telling of stories.

Destroying resistance through story telling involves you becoming the story teller to bypass the minds usual filtering systems that tell a person, “this is not right”, or “this cant be happening”. Once you have mastered story telling that will create a hypnotic trance you will be allowed into your subjects mind to place new ideas, perceptions and thoughts dealing with their lives and how they ultimately live them.

Conversational hypnosis will require you to also learn how to deal directly with the unconscious mind; this is done through conversational inductions. This concept is a way to formulate how to induce a trance through conversation, the real core of conversational hypnosis.

Conversational induction will provide you with the skill of moving from normal speech into a conversational hypnotic induction with ease. In doing this you will then be dealing directly with the unconscious mind of your subject which is what your job as a hypnotist is ultimately all about.

This technique will teach you to mold conversation that sounds completely ordinary to others into something much more intense for you and your subject; this in itself will take a grand amount of understanding and skill.

Conversational trance formulas are paramount in the art of hypnosis. These are formulas that will get you exactly where and what you want from your subject. Getting your subject into a trance come very easily to you but then where do you go from there, this is where conversational trance formulas are required.

The formulas consist of the P-CAT formula, which is used for personal change in a subject. This is handy for those rough days, bad times in relationships and even when ending a relationship.

The COMILA formula is used mainly for persuading and influencing people. This formula is helpful to people in their professions such as influencing an individual to want to learn, sales, education, management as well as for general inspiration.

Next in the list of helpful formulas is the LIFE checklist. This is a checklist developed to help you know you are actually engaged in a hypnotic conversation. The LIFE check list consists of four steps that will help you identify quickly and efficiently that hypnosis is underway.

Conversational hypnosis will also require you to master such techniques as “future memories” and “stacking realities”. Future memories are memories you place in your hypnotized subjects mind that have not taken place yet.

The goal is that they will become memories as the subjects unconscious brings them to their conscious mind as events that have already happened. The art in this is to make the future memory so compelling that the unconscious mind will want the memory to have happened and eventually follow your suggestion to make the memory a real instance that has happened in the past.

“Stacking realities” and “accidental trance identification” are other techniques that help hypnotists to slip past the resistance and interference within a subjects mind that prevent hypnosis.

Advanced frame control will also be paramount to master. This is the art of leading all your hypnotic interactions in the direction you desire. Without this skill you will not be able to control the direction of conversation, hampering your goal of creating a more peaceful, happy, healthy mindset for your subjects. All of these strategies, once mastered, will help you in the ease of your conversational hypnosis.

There are many exciting and great skills involved in becoming a successful conversational hypnotist, while this information may seem overwhelming at first it is just a taste of the powerful skills that you will enjoy perfecting as you assume your role as a hypnotist.

Once mastered many of these skills will provide you with a life time of learning and development personally and professionally, as well as help you to change lives for the better.

Most schools and systems of meditation begin with the most fundamental aspects of life, breathing. Breathing is not only our source of life and energy, it can also be a vehicle for reuniting with the truth and beauty of present reality.

Meditation is not, as many misunderstand, escape from reality or transcendence of mundane experience. Meditation rather is a return to and coalescence with reality. And there is nothing more immediate and transient than breath. It is constantly coming and going just as life is constantly in flux. Perception and awareness of our breathing is therefore the beginning of our reunion with the flux of life.

Meditative breathing should be long and deep, not erratic or hasty. Air should flow deep, causing the lower abdomen rather than the upper chest to expand. Deep abdominal breathing is man’s natural state of breathing, as can be observed by watching a sleeping child. As they inhale, their chest’s don’t expand and contract, their bellies do. Many speculate that this is one of the reasons for their incessant energy and vitality. We too can relearn this childlike vitality through simple breathing exercises.

The fundamental principles of proper meditative breathing are relatively few. You ought to be in a comfortable and relaxing environment. Your back should be straight and body in a position so as to allow for abdominal expansion, regardless of whether you are standing, sitting in a chair, or reclining on the floor. Hand and leg position is relatively insignificant at first.

What makes breathing exercises also meditation is the degree to which you are aware of your breath. There is a fine line however between forced breathing and awareness, and it’s a subtle difference that will eventually be learned with experience. Meditation should not be forced concentration on our breath. Our minds should follow our breathing as it draws itself long and deep into the abdomen, and slowly back out. After a time your awareness will expand to be able to follow more than your breath, but also your body feeling, sounds, sights, and thoughts with equal acuteness and inclusiveness.

As all who attempt this will quickly discover, the mind will wander as soon as we become comfortable with the exercise. This is ok. It is not to be forcibly avoided. As your mind wanders, remain aware. Watch your thoughts without judgment and you will find they dissolve on their own, while at the same time allowing you an honest look at yourself. When your distracting thoughts dissolve naturally, simply look back to your breath, and begin again to reconnect with the life-force filling your body. In such a way are breathing and meditation one and the same, and the source for reunion with the truth and beauty of life.

Meditation, in contrast to popular belief, is not deep concentration or the tuning out of external stimulus for the sake of transcending daily life. Meditation, rather, is a return to reality. There is indeed a place within the broad definition of the term for the image of Buddha under the Bo tree, or a monk deeply analyzing the dogma of his faith. But these images can be as detrimental to a beginner as they are inspiring.

For most of us, the value in meditation comes from our lack of awareness in day to day living. In the activity of nearly all things we are constantly looking toward the next event, or musing over dead experiences and ideas. Very rarely do we see, touch, smell, hear, and contemplate our present. And it is this detachment that causes persistent separation of our identity from our experience.

We walk through life seeing life as we’ve constructed it, with moral values, judgments and emotionally charged language. There is nothing in this world that objectively defines a work of art as being more significant than a dead leaf or a weed, yet we will stand and examine art for hours and brush the dead leaf into the gutter. This valuation is a manifestation of ourselves, the ego acting as a center of importance, rather than an innocent experience of the now.

And as most of us have experienced, whether consciously or otherwise, acting this way, acting from a center of selfishness causes a lot of pain and discontent. It is isolating. It lacks love and beauty. It is the return to unconditioned experience and the now that deconstructs this subject object dichotomy. It is a return to the now that reconnects us with IT, with truth, love and beauty.

So if our current experiences are so stained with the past, how do we return to the present? Well it isn’t with long sessions of forced breathing or rigid posturing. These are just new boxes for our minds, forcing the present moment into dead traditions and dogma. The truth is no one can teach another to meditate in the true sense of the word. Because meditation is complete freedom from the known, genuine unconditioned experience of the now. It is personal and unique.

Applying the truth of the above to our own experience needs no explicit instruction, merely the observation of its truth, and the application of those principles. What do I mean by this? I mean recognize your own ego and identity as it relates to your experience. As you eat your breakfast turn off the TV, put aside the morning paper, don’t eat on the run, and watch yourself. Taste your food, Listen to the sounds of rumination. Observe your actions and thoughts without judgment, just as you are.

Notice here I didn’t say anything about posture or hand position. To begin meditating one must awaken to their present. When was the last time you actually tasted your breakfast? Tasted it as if for the first time, with complete attention, not to the exclusion of sounds and thoughts, but complete awareness of the act you were taking. In this simple act, as in most acts in our daily life, lies the key to beauty and happiness, And a return to the now as an innocent, with open eyes and mind, is meditation is all its purity and simplicity. So stop reading on, and be where you are. And taste your breakfast tomorrow!
