Millions of Americans made a New Years resolution this year ranging from vows to lose weight and get in shape to better financial and stress management. Quitting smoking is another resolution that consistently appears on the list for the top three most popular resolutions.

Tobacco remains the No. 1 cause of preventable disease and death in United States, effecting close to 46 million Americans. Furthermore, the health and financial benefits have prompted more than 49 percent of adults who have ever smoked since 1965 to quit smoking, according to the American Heart Association. These statistics are encouraging to those who have resolved to quit smoking in 2010.

However, an estimated 75 percent of people will break a resolution in the first several months of the year. Coupled with studies that show that smokers who quit cold turkey have a decreased success rate compared to those who quit smoking with the help of smoking cessation medication, many individuals have sought help from their doctor to quit smoking.

Many physicians have turned to popular smoking cessation medications, varenicline, marketed as Chantix, and bupropion, sold as Zyban, to help reduce withdrawal symptoms and the urge to smoke. Chantix, which raked in $846 million in 2008, and Zyban, which
is available in generic form, are commonly prescribed smoking cessation medications used as an alternative to nicotine replacement therapies.

However, the help of medication may not be worth the risks. The side effects of Chantix have included depression, psychiatric complications, mood swings and, in some cases, suicide. More than 100 suicides have been linked to the medication, although there may be more suicides that occurred as a side effect of Chantix that have not been reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This has prompted many family members of Chantix patients to seek a Chantix lawyer to develop an often time consuming Chantix lawsuit to receive monetary compensation.

In July 1, 2009, the FDA required that Chantix and Zyban carry a black box warning notifying patients of potential suicide risk and other emotional side effects including depression and abnormal behavior. A black box warning is most severe warning the FDA can issue without demanding a recall. Despite the known risks, many patients continue to take the medication in their attempts to quit smoking.

Pfizer, the manufacturer of Chantix has maintained that the deaths and side effects are a result of nicotine withdrawal, although patients who continued to smoke while taking the medication demonstrated unusual or irrational behavior. The FDA will continue to evaluate the safety of Chantix.

There are many different weight loss products on the market and choosing the best weight loss diet pill can be a difficult task. It is imperative to get the facts about the different types of pills that are available, so that you are able to make a wise choice. There are many great products that really do work, but there are some shady companies who market pills that do not live up to their hype.

It is important to note whether or not the weight loss supplement is a natural product. Natural products are much safer and have less side effects than diet pills that have harsh ingredients. Be sure and look at the ingredients and if you are not sure about one of them, you should look up that information.

You will also want to consider how the pill actually works. Some are designed to burn fat more efficiently and others block the absorption of carbohydrates. These are both good products.

You should also steer clear of diet products that are pumped fill of caffeine and laxatives because these types of products are more likely to cause side effects and will not be a long term solution to your weight loss goals.

Avoid diet supplements that make claims that sound as though they are too good to be true. The simple truth is if they sound that way, they usually are too good to be true. Pay close attention to the fine print in these types of advertisements.

Choosing a good diet pill can definitely help you to get rid of unwanted pounds. There are some really great products out there and with some proper research, you will find one that best suits your needs. Healthy weight loss takes time and even the best products will tell you that up front.

The goal of every physician is education not curing, as an ignorant patient always requires curing and is never cured, but always charged and hurt (in the long-run). If you are being paid to heal someone, but the best you can do is temporarily halt the disease, then that is fine as long as you explain to the patient that you have no idea how to cure the disease (for whatever excuse) but are more than willing to treat and charge. If your patient accepts that information, then fine, as many will do, but many will not until you figure out not only what causes disease but what also cures. If you cannot cure disease you have no business being a physician, licensed or unlicensed.

The following are three examples of less than stellar advice given by Dr Oz. The first two are dietary as Dr. Oz, on his television show advised that it was all right to drink three to four cups of coffee per day, as and as engage in sex, masturbation if you’re an uptight middle age man (it will help relax you). The third is body odor, on a past Oprah show, Dr. Oz stated that body, more or less, was caused by unknown factors (some people just naturally stink, attract bad, stinky bacteria), race and gender, not diet (minor factor).

My background is traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines, which are both 5,000+ years old. Regarding sex and caffeine, their advice is the EXACT OPPOSITE.

They advise both sexes to avoid coffee, caffeine as it drains jing, sexual essence, fountain of youth causing one to prematurely age, dry, thin and wither. Both medicines would barely allow three or four cups a month

They advise men to restrain, forgo the ejaculation and or practice celibacy, as the release of sexual essence (sperm, etc.) is extremely weakening and in excess, drying, thinning, etc. Excessive sex tends to accelerate the aging, drying, thinning and weakening in both sexes. It is the forbidden fruit, located in the center of the garden.

Both medicines (5,000+ years old) advise the exact opposite of Dr. Oz. Both medicines would also look down on his opinions regarding body odor, which he said has more to do with race, gender and unknown factors than it does diet. Both medicines state the opposite that body odor is a function of diet, not the aforementioned.

On a past Oprah show, Dr. Oz was the guest expert and body odor the topic. On the show, was a young couple, an overweight, obese man and his wife. The man had terrible body odor. The show started and Oprah asked (rightly, intuitively) if diet had anything to do with body odor. Dr. Oz dismissed her, argument by saying that if you eat onions and garlic you smell like onions and garlic but the real causes of body odor were unknown factors, race and gender.

Some people for some unknown reason attracted bad bacteria that caused bad body odor. He also went on to say that some races, like black people had larger pores and therefore stunk, and some gender (I am assuming women) naturally stink because of hormones. Hormones are generally an issue associated with women, and have no smell to the best of my knowledge.

Most body odor is caused by poor diet and stagnation of energy, blood, fluids, stools, etc. (see article at end) and not race, gender. Black people do not have bigger pores and are no different (same biology, creator) from white people, with the exception of diet. There are stinky black people and stinky white people. There is no such thing as black of white stink, but there is sour stink, sweet, damp stink, musty stink and foul, putrid stink, all according to the type and quantity of food you eat in relation to body weight, size. Pretty simple stuff anyone can understand. See the following excerpt on body odor.

I am sure Dr. Oz has a kind heart, but his statements, in my opinion are racist and gender biased. The worst part of this story is Oprah and her audience who just nodded in agreement. Intuition is one thing. Following it up is another. Good health always helps, which is why I wrote my book, Hot and Cold Health. You need an education, not a tv show or office visit.

The intuition of health is knowledge. The standard-bearer of disease is ignorance. If you are tired of this merry-go-round of doctors, insurance, drugs, surgery, supplements, etc. buy, read my book. It is the only way I can help you.

BODY ODOR The body digests, transforms food, nutrients into blood into structure into function, into health or disease. The body is sweet and sour by nature. The sweet smell comes from blood, food, nutrients, protein, water and sugar, which are sweet tasting. The sour smell comes from the stomach (digestion, fermentation) and or an excess of sour foods. The sweet and sour smells, and or cold, damp tissue tends to produce a musty odor. Protein and fat, especially animal and poor food combining tend to produce pervasive, offensive odors.

The stomach is the first digestive organ to receive and process food, nutrients. It mixes food and fluids with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and other enzymes, designed specifically to digest animal protein and fat. This mixture sits, ferments, breaks down before moving down to the small intestine, for further digestion, eventual nutrient absorption. Digestion, fermentation is a souring process, which is why everyone tends to have a slightly sour smell.

Food that spends too long of a time in the stomach tends over ferment, spoil, creating excessive sour smell that can accumulate, overflow and rise up through the throat, breath, skin, armpits, etc. Overeating, tight clothing, eating while standing up, late meals and obesity tends to weaken and slow the movement of food, creating abdominal bloating, gas, burping and sour breath. Too many sour foods (milk, yogurt, ice cream and cheese, dairy and non-dairy tend also tend to cause sour body odor.

Eating salads, fruits or and or drinking cold drinks at the beginning of the meal tends to dilute and weaken digestion, acid and enzymes, slowing the movement of food. Too many vegetables (especially raw, salads), tropical fruits, juices, sugary foods, cold drinks, etc. especially in combination with dairy products (milk, yogurt and soft cheese) also tends to weaken digestion, nutrient absorption, blood, while increasing waste (solid and liquid) as whatever food, nutrients not digested becomes waste. This type of waste, dampness, in the extreme (loose stools, diarrhea and constipation), tends to produce sweet, sour and or musty body odors. Low protein and low-fat diets, in the extreme, also tend to weaken, slow all function, including digestion, movement of food.

Too many grains (pasta, bread, pastry, etc.), especially in combination with oil, fat and sugar, tend to collect and clog the small and large intestines, just like excess cholesterol collects and clogs the arteries. The clog, accumulated matter (bread, pizza dough, cookies, chips, etc.) tends to be moist, damp and sweet. In the extreme, it tends to produce sweet, damp and musty body odor. It can also heat up and produce hot, damp and smelly rashes in the armpits and or groin. Avoid alcohol (beer, wine, etc.) and ice cream as both worsen dampness, body odor, rashes, etc. Animal foods, oil, etc. in excess, tend to produce damp heat.

The musty, sweet smell is a stale, moldy smell, usually associated with dampness. Damp diets (low protein, low-fat and high carbohydrate), obesity, edema, cellulite, inactivity and or bulimia increase stagnant pools of dampness and or deteriorated tissues throughout the body creating a sweet, musty body odor.

The middle diet, meal plan adjusted accordingly is recommended. Cooked foods and spices (cardamom, cumin, coriander, fennel, cayenne, turmeric, etc.) increase digestion, metabolism, burning, drying of excess fluids, damp, sugar, sour smell. Spices burn, dry dampness, Bitter herbs also drain dampness, but are very cooling (contraindicated for weak, cold digestion). Cold, weak digestion tends to cause dampness. Reduce all damp foods: dairy: milk, yogurt, cheese, pizza, salads, cold drinks, alcohol, etc. Do not overeat. Take a walk after you eat. Be patient, as it will take months and or years of good eating to eliminate old, diseased tissues and rebuild, replace with new healthy smelling tissues.

Canadian health officials recently informed Chantix patients of increased potential adverse side effects associated with the use of the smoking cessation drug. Chantix, which is sold as Champix in Canada, has already been linked to several severe psychiatric episodes among patients in the United States, according to reports from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) dating back to February 2008.

In the United States, the drug continues to be sold even though it was related to nearly 400 episodes of depression, irrational behavior, suicidal tendencies and thoughts among patients consuming the drug as well as at least 98 incidents of suicide among patients since 2009. The FDA noted nicotine-replacement products have not been linked with similar statistics.

In July 2009, the FDA required Chantix and its sister drug Zyban to carry a boxed warning notifying patients of the risk of the potential side effects. The warning is the most severe caution the FDA requires without demanding a recall. Additionally, studies that link Chantix to a loss of consciousness has caused the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to remove Chantix from a list of medications considered safe for air traffic controllers and pilots.

Additionally, CBC News of Canada recently reported on approximately 818 complaints associated with Champix side effects including 520 involving psychiatric episodes among patients, according to Health Canada. CBC News has reported that “Health Canada has been slower to act, posting a warning on its website months after the FDA issued its warnings.”

Smoking-Aid Dangers Reported

Chantix, also Varenicline tartrate from Pfizer, was released in May 2006 and has since been prescribed to more than 3 million American smokers attempting to secede from smoking. The drug works by targeting “nicotine receptors in the brain” and then attaches to them and “blocks nicotine from reaching them,” according to Pfizer. The drug does not use nicotine, but is responsible for the following side effects:

- nausea
- changes in dreaming
- constipation
- gas
- vomiting
- depressive behavior
- increased risk of suicide

Individuals who have been subject to the Chantix side effects should consider discussing these dangers with a medical professional and an experienced pharmaceutical attorney who can provide free legal advice as to the development of a Champix class action lawsuit, which may earn a victim monetary compensation for all of the damages endured by the Chantix side effects. Additionally, discussing a potential Chantix case with a medical attorney could result in additional warnings for the drug, which will benefit
others who have suffered as a result of the smoking cessation drug.

When it comes to picking the right kind of anti-inflammatory cream it can sometimes be very difficult. There are literally thousands of different types and kinds of creams available on the market today and this can make it very difficult for someone to make a decision as to which one is right for them. The good news is that regardless of the brand of cream you purchase, most of them can help reduce inflammation and dull the pain that you may be feeling. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t always use care and caution when applying anti-inflammatory creams. These creams are not a substitute for your doctor. They are specifically for temporary pain relief and by no means should you neglect visiting your doctor if the pain and inflammation continues to persist in the long run. Doing so may have serious implications for your body and health.

All anti-inflammatory creams are meant to be used for temporary relief in areas that are inflamed and causing you pain. A good example of someone who might need anti-inflammatory creams is someone who plays sports on a constant basis and occasionally needs the cream to relieve muscle pain that they may be suffering from. However, these creams can also be applied to other things such as an injury which constantly causes inflammation or to muscles that may be used to being worked so hard. All of these cases are suitable for correct application of anti-inflammatory cream. This does not mean that you can ignore pain that persists and does not go away, nor does it mean that you no longer need to see a doctor and can just simply apply the cream to temporarily solve your pain.

Anti-inflammatory creams are for short term application only. Depending on the kind of cream that you are applying, it will have detailed instructions and information with it that clearly outline its correct use and how long the cream should be applied for before you need to visit a doctor. If after applying the cream your pain resides but returns only a few days after you stop the application of the cream, then it should be fairly clear that there may be something seriously wrong and you should head to your local doctor. How much and how little of the cream you apply also needs to be followed closely. Do not over apply the creams. There is a small chance that the ingredients in the creams can cause serious body harm, such as death, if you apply too much over a long period of time.

For overworked muscles and inflammation caused by injuries, anti-inflammatory creams are a great quick fix to these painful problems. Their simple application means that you can quickly ease pain and inflammation without too much trouble. This is good for anyone who plays sport and suffers injuries and strains muscles or someone who has recently suffered an injury and needs to reduce some inflammation. However, it does not mean that you can simply apply the creams to a reoccurring pain and forget ever needing to see your doctor again. Creams are a temporary solution only and if your pain continues you should visit your doctor to get it thoroughly looked at.
