Wildflower honey is one of the few honeys that can come from almost anywhere. The honey is created as the bees pollinate the local wild flowers growing in any given area. Because of the diversity of the flowers in an area the flavor and texture of wildflower honey can very greatly. When you are buying this type of honey you will want to have an accurate description of the specific honey you are looking at. You will find that they can be lighter in color to very dark in color. The color and flavor can very from season to season in the same region based on the types of flowers in bloom, the winter rainfall, any recent fire activity, etc.

Because of these variables people who suffer from allergies tend to use wildflower honey to help with building up their immune system. By eating a teaspoon full of honey everyday the pollens from the local flowers are slowly being ingested and in turn build up the immune system to those pollens. Many people have seen great results to this natural treatment. There are several things that you need to remember if you choose to eat wildflower honey for this reason.

1. You should buy the honey from a local supplier and make sure that the honey was produced as close to where you live as possible. This is to ensure that the pollens in the honey are the same pollens that are irritating your allergies.

2. You should always start slow. When eating honey that has pollens that you are allergic to you may have a reaction. You should build up your resistance over time. People report that it can take up to a month to really feel the effects of the honey.

3. You should always buy raw honey because when ever honey is strained and heated the pollens can be removed or reduced to the point of being useless. Also when you heat honey you remove a lot of the natural antioxidant qualities that my be present in wildflower honey.

Wildflower honey is like a Christmas gift every year, you never know exactly what you are going to get. If you are a fan of consistent flavors this may not be the honey for you but if you are more adventurous this may be the perfect honey for you to try. If you are using this honey for allergies you also want to note that you should be buying the honey each season so that you are ingesting the pollens from that seasons wildflower honey.

Manuka honey is becoming a popular alternative to prescription medication for healing stomach ulcers, wounds and a variety of other conditions. This particular type of honey has excellent antibacterial qualities. Doctors and naturalists alike agree on the super healing powers real manuka honey possesses.

The Waikato University in New Zealand is the only group that has performed any studies about the qualities of this particular honey. Some doctors readily accept that honey has been used for more than 5000 years, and it works, so they would rather not waste precious time and money researching something that has been proven time and again.

Real manuka honey is exclusive to the New Zealand region and costs significantly more than the average supermarket style of honey. This special honey is made from bees that feed off a manuka plant’s flowers or what is more commonly called the tea tree. Tea tree oil is another common antiseptic that is derived from this awesome plant.

Manuka honey is packaged with a UMF or unique manuka factor label. This lets a consumer know what kind of antibacterial properties a particular jar of honey contains. A UMF of at least 10 is ideal for medical use honey. The higher the UMF the stronger the antibacterial properties will be. An idyllic UMF rating is between 10 and 18. Some people may experience sensitivities to the higher UMF levels.

This natural remedy can successfully treat a number of internal and external bacterial infections including the common staph infection. This type of infection is becoming harder to treat as it slowly develops a resistance to typical antibiotics. Doctors have been able to treat the dreaded MRSA strain with this honey.

Because of its growing popularity and clout as a healing product you can now buy manuka honey products like lotions and soaps. Manuka honey has been known to work great on acne and there are several acne creams out there. You will find antibacterial creams, antiseptic soaps, anti itch creams and so much more.

Manuka honey is a must have staple for any first aid kit. The honey can be applied topically to wounds or taken orally to provide internal healing. It is much darker than normal store bought honey and has a richer flavor. It can be used as a sweetener for a variety of drinks and products while providing extraordinary health benefits. Don’t miss out on this unique alternative medicine called manuka honey.

Everyone would like to have a perfect smile, but nature is rarely so accommodating. Even if you’re one of the lucky ones who never needed braces, the rough-and-tumble of life, along with habits such as smoking or drinking coffee, invariably result in chips, stains, or an overall dingy appearance.

Until fairly recently, there wasn’t a lot the average person could do to improve the appearance of teeth beyond having them cleaned once or twice a year. In the last two decades, however, improvements in dental materials and restorative techniques have made it possible for most of us to have close to model-perfect teeth that resist color changes and are almost as strong as the originals.

If you have been considering ways to brighten your smile or correct imperfections, there’s never been a better time to do it. Demand for cosmetic dental procedures is greater than ever, in part because baby boomers with money to spend are looking for ways to feel and look younger.

However, there are a few things you should keep in mind while making your decision:

It can be expensive. For example, the application of porcelain tooth veneers may cost between $400 and $1,500 per tooth.

Most cosmetic procedures aren’t covered by insurance. Materials aren’t indestructible. Crowns, inlays and veneers are stronger and more durable than they used to be, but they won’t last forever.

They may crack or chip or the cement may weaken. If you’re 70 years old, there’s a good chance that the restorations will last longer than you will.

Younger people, however, may have to repeat the procedures in 10 to 15 years.
It’s important to be realistic.

Dentists who specialize in cosmetic procedures are enhancers. They can manipulate, shape and polish materials in an infinite variety of ways to create smiles that are truly dazzling.

What they can’t do is change the shape of your mouth, the color of your skin or your overall appearance. In order for tooth restorations to truly look natural, they have to work for you.

Cosmetic dentistry can improve your appearance; it won’t completely transform it.
One of the benefits of cosmetic dentistry is that the final results are easy to predict.

Whether you decide to have a gap filled, a chip repaired or a stain concealed, you’re unlikely to have unpleasant surprises later. Dentists have many methods for repairing, restoring or otherwise changing the appearance of the teeth.

Thanks to advances in computer technology, it’s now possible to view before-and-after images of your teeth before the work even begins. The technique is called computer imaging and it allows your dentist to give you an idea of what your teeth will look like after the procedure you are contemplating.

Before you commit to having a procedure done, a dentist who has this technology can project an image of your teeth on a computer monitor then ” correct” the imperfection or modify your teeth as you desire while you watch. Imaging may not be necessary.

If you want a chipped tooth filled or a space between teeth narrowed, you may be able to envision the result without a computer screen. If you are considering something more complex or involving more than one tooth, however, imaging can be helpful.

Many, although not all, cosmetic dentists incorporate computer imaging in their practices. The last piece of information that you should consider is researching the dentist you want working on your smile.

Make sure he is licensed and check the Better Business Bureau for complaints. Another good way to pick a cosmetic dentist is to ask if he has a portfolio of before and after pictures.

Patient satisfaction can be one of the top reasons you pick the dentist to work with.

Lasik eye surgery for the feet? Not exactly, but the results are just as spectacular! Most of us have read or heard personal accounts of the dramatic results achieved from Lasik eye surgery.

Poor eyesight is quickly restored to that of one’s youth and glasses are simply tossed away. This same sense of freedom and control is now available for sufferers of many common foot related problems.

With the introduction of the PDA approved, Implantable Arch Support: foot arch supports, night splints, immobilizing boots, specialized shoes, cortisone shots and etc, etc, etc… are no longer necessary. It’s truly a revolution in footcare and has been extremely liberating for many of my patients.

This new procedure is only being practiced at few hospitals, but growing in popularity. The results have been nothing short of amazing.

Patients have related to me that within days of the procedure that their foot, hip, knee and back pain that was related to their flat feet/pronation was completely gone. In some cases, these associated problems had plagued them for a decade or more.

Patients who previously had to wear orthotics for their foot problems no longer need the orthotics and now can wear any shoe, without having to worry if the orthotic will fit the shoe, etc. If you have flat feet, pronation or collapsing ankles you may be a candidate for this procedure.

This foot deformity is inherited. I have personally seen many generations of family members that suffer from the same foot deformity. Parents with foot issues should have their children examined for these inherited problems.

Patients range from 5 to 90 years of age. Most patients are candidates for the surgery.

The post operative course consists of a tennis shoe and ankle brace or a removable cast for about three weeks as the scar tissue forms to hold the implant in place. As a Foot and Ankle Surgeon, it is most gratifying to see the positive effects that the Implantable Arch Support can have on a family.

This procedure can have a dramatic effect by increasing the interaction between parents and children by allowing for shared activities that may have in the past been hampered by unnecessary pain.

Parents and children alike, can be more active, maintain a healthier weight, play sports without complaining of achy feet, tired legs and various other body pains.

In addition to fixing the immediate foot problems, all members of the family will be able to avoid future knee, hip and back problems that are caused by poor foot posture.

The surgical procedure takes about 15 minutes and can be performed under either local or twilight sleep anesthesia. A titanium stent is placed into the ankle area that keeps the foot from abnormally pronating.

After implantation, all normal foot and ankle motion will be retained while abnormal motion will be significantly reduced or completely stopped.

Initially, this procedure was performed one foot at a time, but now due to an advanced surgical technique implemented at my office simultaneous repair of both feet is available.

The procedure has a success rate in the high 90% range. A few of the terrific aspects of this surgery are that no bones are cut, no cement or glue is used, and the procedure is 100% reversible.

I would urge anyone with persistent foot problems, knee replacements, hip replacements or who has had back surgery to be examined. If the feet are not providing a good foundation, previous procedures will most likely fail over time.

This new foot technique for hyperpronation reduces the chance that corrective joint implants throughout the body will need to be re- worked in the future.

The history of the symptoms of tinnitus and Natural, Holistic Cures for Tinnitus have a parallel history dating back 5000 years. That history means nothing to the millions suffering from tinnitus in the United States alone. Their Question is: What have you done for me lately?
Traditional medicine relys heavily on drugs, suppression therapy and surgery, and not without some success. It is for the intransigent cases, those seemingly unmoved by traditional medicines application that more and more Americans are turning to the natural holistic cures for tinnitus.

These remedies, cures or just plain treatments can take many forms, and quick perusal of the holistic medical texts informs us a few of the most common. The natural holistic cure for tinnitus most commonly cited is apple cider vinegar. Yes, this sweet sour mixture has found its way into the textbooks of most holistic practitioners. It is not just anecdotal evidence that indicates this works in a large number of cases. Field trials have demonstrated natural holistic curative properties associated with the correct usage of the apple cider vinegar. The traditional mixture is a ratio of 1 tablespoon of ACV (as it is known in the literature) to one tablespoon of honey to make the drink palatable. This Natural Holistic Cure would be useless if the taste was so bad no one would take it.

Another every strong contender for best natural holistic sure is chelated magnesium taken along with an antihistamine. Chelation is a technical term describing the form of a molecule, the details of which are best left to a degreed chemist. The advantage of chelation of a mineral from the practitioners’ point of view is that much more of this substance, in this case, magnesium, is readily available to the body. Unchelated variations are many times unable to pass through the cell walls of the intestines and hence are of limited value to the sufferer.

Very many tinnitus sufferers, a natural holistic cure for tinnitus comes from magnesium because studies have shown they are deficient in the mineral. In today’s fast food, minimal natural vegetable society, magnesium is very difficult to get into the diet and oral or injectible supplements are an efficient method to relieve the deficiency.

A third approach by the tinnitus community for a natural holistic cure for tinnitus is the use of acupuncture. Acupuncture has been a staple of the traditional Chinese medicine for 5000 years. The discipline is based on the flow of energy through the body; the Chinese refer to as “qi or “chi”. The notion is that the qi flows along certain neural pathways and sometimes those pathways are blocked and need to be stimulated. They are stimulated with the placement of very fine needles. Modern, traditional medicine has begun to accept the efficacy of the use of the needles, but not of the concept of qi. That being said, people seeking a natural holistic cure for tinnitus have turned to acupuncture and in many cases found relief. Whether that relief is related to the re establishing the flow of qi or interfering with the nerve impulses feeding that part of the brain causing the noise is open to debate, but positive results have been obtained.

These three traditional natural holistic cures for tinnitus are by no means the end of the list. There are a number of others with a well known following such as psyllium husk and flaxseed to lower blood sugar; mullein and garlic oil applied directly to the ear drum, vitamin B12 and zinc among a host of others. There is a large body of work identifying natural holistic remedies for tinnitus. I urge sufferers to investigate them, but do not begin a course of therapy without the advice of a licensed practitioner.

Edward Vere is a former tinnitus sufferer that has made a study of natural holistic remedies for tinnitus.

Buckwheat Honey has been around for a very long time in the United States. Buckwheat was a very important crop from the 1930′s through the 1960′s when it started to drop off. Because of the drop off in buckwheat production the honey can be somewhat rare these days. Buckwheat is not a wheat at all as the name implies. It is actually a fruit that is related to rhubarb. It is rich in omega 3′s. The flowers are abundant on the plants and created a carpet of small pink flowers that could be in bloom until late in August.

Buckwheat honey has always been prized for its rich, dark molasses, malty flavor. It is not too sweet and is a great source of iron. Because of the fact that it is a mono-floral honey the flavor can be predictable and consistent. It is a strong flavor and can take some getting used to but, as recent studies have proven it may be worth the try.

Darker honeys have been proven to have a higher antioxidant qualities. Studies at Penn State College of Medicine have shown that buckwheat honey is more effective than typical over the counter cough medicines. In this double blind study parents found that children that took a teaspoon of buckwheat honey before bed coughed less and had a more restful nights sleep. Some side effects of increased energy in these same children were reported. Having a natural alternative to cough medicine is a relief to many parents especially since the FDA warned about the effects of dextromethorphan, cough medicine and does not recommend it for children under the age of 6.

When buying honey, you want to look for raw honey. Likewise when you eat the honey you want to avoid putting it in hot tea or oatmeal or anything that will subject the honey to heat which can degrade the health benefits of buckwheat honey.

Raw honey is the only way to go when you are looking to buy buckwheat honey. It has been shown that through the heating of honey in the bottling, processing, and blending of honey, the antibiotic and antimicrobial aspects of honey can be destroyed. The only way to ensure that the honey you are eating has the full nutritional value is to buy raw cold packed honey that has been through absolutely no processing at all. In truly raw honey you will find particles are bee pollen, propolis, wax and royal jelly. All of these different components make up the honey that your grandma used when she swore by its healing properties. We need to avoid the modernization of bottling plants, and over processing and go back to the purely natural product that is raw buckwheat honey.
