There are a variety of different ways to build a first aid kit. Building a first aid kit will all depend on what you will be using it for. You will need different kit for a vacation, a sporting event, and normal every day use.

All first aid kits should contain some basic supplies. You will need a pair of disposable gloves in every kit so that whoever is treating the injured can avoid coming in contact with someone else’s blood. You will also need plenty of band aids (in all different sizes) and sterile dressings for larger cuts and scrapes. There should also be scissors and adhesive tape in order to keep sterile bandages in place. You will also need cleaning supplies such as antibiotics, towelettes and ointment to prevent infections. Burn ointment is also a good idea to put in there first aid kit as well.

Although less common, eye wash solution should be present in case there is a need to flush out someones eye or use as a general decontamination. Many people also choose to put in over the counter medications such as aspirin, laxatives, and diarrhea medications.

If you are on prescription medications, you will also want to have those present in a first aid kit. If the medication could be susceptible to theft, it is best to only keep one dose in a first aid kit and check it regularly to make sure it is still there.

For vacations, you will want to add a variety of other products in order to have a safe time. If you plan to vacation in an area that has venomous snakes, you will want to include a snake bite kit. You will also want to have an extra bottle of sunscreen in your first aid kit in case you run out or lose your other bottles.

For sporting events, you will want to also have some extra sunscreen available in your first aid kit. But for rough sports, you will need to have available materials that will enable you to splint any broken bones and athletic wraps in order to wrap up knees of ankles. Athletic wraps can also be used to keep band aids in place when the injured wants to go back into the game. The wrap will keep the wound clean while the game is still going on.

If you want the convenience, you can always buy a pre-made first aid kit. What you will want to do is inventory it and make sure to add everything else that it is missing. This is the easiest way to get a basic kit and have the most basic supplies. If you feel that there isn’t enough room to pack your supplies in it, you can get a bigger container to hold the first aid kit, or you can size it down by putting a lesser number of each supply. If you want smaller kits, make sure that you have one located in all of the most convenient places.

One of the main causes of illness in the workforce today is known as sick building syndrome and it is responsible for thousands of days off work sick each year. Sick building syndrome is not a problem that is just confined to the United States, it is beginning to be recognized all over the world as more and more people are feeling the effects of being in a poorly ventilated building.

Some of the symptoms of sick building syndrome are: indoor allergies, itchy eyes and nose, runny nose, sore throat, headaches, blurred vision, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and difficulty when concentrating for any period of time. Some people believe that these symptoms are purely psychological however if you are suffering like this you will argue that it is very real. Imagine what it would feel like to start to feel ill within minutes of entering your place of work each day and find that you get worse as the day progresses.

Experts have put forward different reasons for this sick building syndrome from outside influences such as person’s general health or family life, an illness epidemic and other viral infections. However these do not take into account the fact that more and more people are falling ill and all have one thing in common – they all work in the same building.

Such buildings that seem to have high levels of sickness related to sick building syndrome tend to have poorly maintained ventilation and heating systems which many people blame for their illness. This theory can be supported by the fact that the majority of people who claim to have sick building syndrome are often in good health when they away from the building and only become ill again their return.

If poorly maintained ventilation systems are to blame for these illnesses then it is important that something is done about them. Dirty ventilation systems can be the cause of many different types of illness as mold spores can grow and multiply and they are then blown through air ducts right to where people are working. This then results in them being ill as the air that they are breathing is not fresh and purified. Mold spores are not just to blame, if rodents get into the air ducts they can cause problems as can a build up of general dirt and debris, so they should be cleaned regularly.

So really it would be fair to say that sick building syndrome does exist but only where there are dirty ventilation systems that are not kept up to standard. If you suspect the air ducts and ventilation system in a building are dirty is it important that it is brought to the attention of someone who is responsible for them. Your local HVAC technician can provide a comprehensive maintenance service that will ensure that ventilation systems are kept clean and running efficiently, reducing the number of sick days and keeping staff healthy. If this sounds like something that your business could use, contact your local HVAC technician to help you improve your air quality.

As many as one-fourth of all children cope with the painful embarrassment of facial tics. This condition can best be explained as a repeatedly occurring spasm that affects the muscles of both the eyes and the face. The true cause is frequently unclear, but research indicates a strong link between stressful events and an increase in the evidence of symptoms.

Another possible cause of tics is a deficit in essential vitamins or minerals, such as magnesium. Some types of facial tics are manifestations of disorders of the nervous system, including Tourette syndrome, a condition arising from a malfunction of the nervous system. Tourette syndrome is thought to contain a hereditary facet as well.

Some examples of a facial tic are rapid eye movements or eye blinking, squinting, mouth or nose wrinkling, twitching, grunting, mouth twitches, facial grimacing, facial twitches, and throat clearing. A tic often originates at an early stage of physical development, and may last for only weeks, months, or even years. At times, the tic persists into adulthood.

Facial tics can perpetuate and increase anxious disorders in a child already experiencing significant stress because of the tic itself. Young people are sometimes extremely cruel, making fun of the child’s problem. Worse, teachers who do not understand and fail to assist other students to empathize and assist the child in managing his condition can create a devastatingly negative impact on a child’s self image.

The problem, however, is not limited to the suffering child. Adults who are affected by a facial tic find this extremely difficult to manage. These people often face significant social difficulties. In some situations, a person can develop the ability to identify the onset and control the spasm that causes the facial tic. Even this, however, can result in intense emotional and physical energy drains. Low self-esteem is often a major issue with which these people wrestle. Often, these individuals struggle with low self-esteem.

Adults who experience cessation of the humiliating effects of facial grimaces and other tics are afforded with an opportunity for social rebirth. Their concept of themselves is altered, and they no longer are afraid to experience life at its fullest. Youths who can overcome this disorder no longer are burdened by the acute anxiety that impairs their social lives, and encounter with joy rather than psychic pain.

Often, medications, such as mildly sedating drugs, help individuals manage this condition. While the medications may lessen the frequency or severity of these symptoms, the drugs themselves can often cause undesired side effects. Because of this, persons sometimes rely on alternative treatments to help them in treating their disorder.

Two treatment approaches that have provided promising potential in helping clients to control facial tics are hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). These therapies utilize the power inherent in the individual’s unconscious mind to help them re-channel the spasm. Since these treatments are concerned with the root of the difficulty through intervening in the unconscious where the problem originates, they offer significantly more hope for success than traditional therapy methods that merely attempt to control eye blinking, mouth twitches, squinting, facial grimacing, facial twitches, grunting, or other types of impulsive behavior.

Hypnosis permits the person being treated to enter a peaceful altered state and accept suggestions that assist them to release anxiety. Since tics are caused by built-up stress within a person’s body, releasing this tension allows them to successfully control the tic. After several sessions, the client should be capable of experience the ability to cope with tension successfully.

Alternatively, therapists who use NLP assist the client to channel his or her conscious will to use thoughts that stress them as triggers for relaxing thoughts. In addition, the client learns to use an unrelated part of the body, such as a toe, to expel the emotional energy that would otherwise be expressed by the facial tic. This technique allows individuals to manage tension without resorting to the embarrassing impulse.

Another positive effect of these two therapies is that the person being treated avoids the experience of adverse effects from medication type therapies. In fact, both hypnotherapy and NLP are typically believed to be the treatment of choice for individuals who suffer from tics, such as nose wrinkling, or throat clearing, because these interventions do not have unwanted side effects. This avoids significant anguish and stress for the affected person.

Summary: Facial tics can be socially destructive and may yield serious consequences. Boys are more likely to struggle with this difficulty, which can continue into adult life; however girls may also experience difficulties with this. While several treatment approaches are available, hypnosis and NLP seem to be the safest options, because they have no undesirable side effects and are very effective.

First and foremost, your bedroom should be quiet and relaxing. Several things are just not welcome when it comes to rest: noise or light, an uncomfortable or worn-out mattress and foundation, or a room that’s too warm or too cool can prevent you from getting the sleep you need. There’s no reason to settle for anything less than perfect sleep.

So, what should we do?

Let’s begin with the room itself. Look around the floor, and see if the is dust, papers and clothes. If there are, then that is a good place to begin to revamp your sleeping area. Studies have shown that those living in cluttered quarters are more likely to suffer from insomnia.

Next, consider the distractions that tend to plague the location of your room at night. Does the running refrigerator drive you crazy? Does that one street light glare into your bedroom to no end? Guess what? These things will add to your restlessness throughout the night, so close the door, draw the curtains, and put a blinder over your eyes.

At this point we are going to focus on the bed, which is supposed to be comfortable and inviting, for all intents and purposes. When was the last time you got a new mattress? Have those sheets been washed recently? Is it positioned right near a window so that the sun beats down on you in the morning? Honey, if you expect to stay put for eight hours straight, you want to make sure that the bed feels more like feathers than bricks.

Do what is necessary to accommodate your needs so you can avoid bouts of insomnia due to things which you have control over.

And finally, is your room inviting? In order for you to avoid having trouble sleeping, you need to create a certain ambience. The room should look good, smell good, feel good. Perhaps there is a dreadful color on the walls that needs attention. Or maybe a little aromatherapy can prevent you smelling this evening’s dinner over and over again. And fuzzy pajamas never hurt anyone.

Many people automatically assume that insomnia is solely caused by a major health issue. While this can be true, there are several social, physical and mental factors that attribute to insomnia. Make the room work for you rather than just seeing it as a place you rest your head for a few hours each night.

Hopefully, these do’s and dont’s of the sleep environment will encourage you to make your bedroom more sleep-friendly and conducive to sleeping through the night.
