When people think fiber, images of cavemen eating bark off a tree may enter their minds. Just the word “fiber” scares taste buds and could even cause some to utter “ugh,” but the fact of the matter is; fiber isn’t all that bad. In fact, fiber found in food today can even taste good!

It’s no secret that fiber is a must when talking about a healthy diet. Fiber has been shown to promote good digestion, lower cholesterol, and even prevent some cancers. A recent Harvard study conducted on 40, 000 male health professionals found that high intake of dietary fiber reduced the risk of coronary heart disease by 40 percent compared to those who ate a low fiber diet. Unfortunately, modern day man has settled for a conventional animal-based Western diet, limiting his or her fiber intake. For those who choose a healthier diet, (e.g., vegans), fiber is an important source for nutritional health.

There are two types of fiber for your diet, soluble and insoluble, and there are many foods that have a combination of the two. Soluble fiber is believed to be helpful in lowering cholesterol. This fiber dissolves in water and slows down digestion in the stomach and intestines. A great source of soluble fiber is found in barley, brown rice, carrots and dried beans. Insoluble fiber, or roughage, is indigestible. It increases the volume of our bowel movements and usually aids in weight control. Insoluble fiber can be found in Brazil nuts, flax seed, whole grain breads and cereals. One of the healthiest foods that contain a combination of the two types of fiber is soybeans.

One study showed that 25-40 grams of fiber per day has been linked to a reduced risk of developing a host of chronic diseases including cancer, heart disease, gastrointestinal conditions and obesity. Foods made with soy tempeh, soy flour and whole soybeans contain the greatest amount of fiber. A half cup of soy tempeh contains 7 grams of fiber, a half cup of soy flour contains 6 grams of fiber, and 1 cup of whole green soybeans (edamame) contains 10 grams of fiber. In fact, one study found that 25 grams of soy protein per day has a cholesterol-lowering effect. Not only do soybeans contain a great amount of fiber, but they are also excellent sources of iron and protein, plus they are low in fat content. Some soybeans like green soybeans even contain Vitamin C; and yellow soybeans have calcium.

When using soybeans as a source of fiber, think beyond the box; toss them in your favorite stir-fry and add them to your soups. Chili is great with soybeans, as are most Mexican dishes. Soybeans can be found in many foods and can be used in a variety of recipes. Look for your favorite soy recipes for fiber-delicious foods.

When one thinks of Chi Power Training or Qigong, the concept of developing Extra Sensory Perception or ESP becomes a very real possibility. How does a physical exercise like Chi Power Training or Qigong relate to the development of Psychic abilities or ESP?

The one key factor that one must realize is that physical “Internal” training can have a direct result on mental capabilities as it relates to ESP.

The reason is that when you combine certain physical exercises with mental exercises, you create a way to tap into the inner resources of the Mind, Body connection.

Many have searched far and wide to learn these supposed secret abilities. These “secrets” are really returning the body back to the way it was when we were younger and had perception. As we get older, we come to dismiss the abilities we had as children.

The key to doing this is learning how to sensitize the body after it has been desensitized after all the years of growing older and allowing your mind and body to conform to what is “normal” and or “abnormal”.

The only “normal” you have is whatever your concept of normal is.It may take a while for you to begin to realize and understand the true capabilities that you truly have and how you can use them, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is what it is.

The simple way to get this to work is to allow yourself to get into a meditative state and get your body to relax, while you instruct the mind and condition the body to “re-sensitize” itself to all available stimuli available. Sounds easy and simple, but is it really?

Well, it is if you know how to do it. When you have a blueprint that enables you to guide yourself step by step into a new reality, it gives you a power to become more than you could ever have imagined.

The nice thing about this training is that you can go at any pace you want to. Some train hours every day, while others have a less aggressive routine, one that will assist them to get the results they want in the time frame they want, need and desire.

The question is, will you take the next step to allow yourself the chance to get the most out of your mind, body & spirit, and the full potential that is inside of you? Here is a short list of some of the abilities you can experience:

- Crossing of the senses (“seeing” sounds), in which a numinous beauty is revealed or an extrasensory perception is dramatized.
- Feeling” people in a house though you cannot see or hear them.
- Feeling that someone is watching you, after which you turn to meet his or her gaze.
- Feeling a basic compatibility (or incompatibility) with people before you meet them.
- Correctly guessing the location of water or other materials by extrasensory processes.
- Spontaneous, unexpected perceptions of distant events.
- Hearing music or other sounds, for which there is no discoverable physical source, which enlivens particular thoughts or emotions.
- Correctly sensing the location of lost objects without the help of sensory cues.
- Opening books to the exact passage you are searching for.
- Watching someone’s face reveal-as if in slow motion-unsuspected feeling, traits, or possibilities for development.
- Sensing a numinous presence during meditation, intimate conversation, or other circumstances.
- Seeing lights around people or inanimate objects for which there are no apparent sources.
- Looking at something familiar and seeing it as if for the first time.
- Spontaneously apprehending the presence of someone physically distant or dead, by direct and vivid contact.

These are skills or abilities one can achieve through the right discipline of meditation and advanced chi training (building up the nerve fibers).

The question is not whether you can achieve these results, but rather, do you have the courage and instinct to continue expanding your mind and body?

When my friend had a motorbike crash and broke his leg in several places, his health insurance paid out a tidy sum, which was just as well as he ended up off work for a year with bones that refused to heal. Under normal circumstances, bones will heal themselves by grafting over with new bone growth. Although this can take some time the body is very good at healing itself.

However, this is not always the case and un-healing bones can cause major problems. My friend was threatened with whole limb amputation if the bones didn’t begin to heal themselves very soon as infection is a huge risk. Bone grafts, where bone is taken from another part of the body and grafted on to the problem area is one way this type of injury can be treated but is not always successful.

When a bone is significantly damaged through a severe trauma or when tumours have been removed, extra help to heal is often needed. However, this does lead to more time lost at work and can cause more financial problems. Health insurance will have made their payout but it really is impossible to know how long this will have to last for.

British scientists have made a breakthrough that is hoped will speed up the healing process for broken bones, thus making that health insurance money last the necessary period. A glass implant can be placed in the body which would then dissolve, releasing calcium and encouraging the bones to re-grow.

Bone grafting is second only to blood in terms of the amount of transplanted material but causes other problems. Usually bone is removed from the hip to graft into other needed areas but this can cause a fair amount of post operative pain and much longer recovery time. It also means the amount that can be harvested is limited.

Sometimes, it is possible to use bone from a bone bank or from animals but this carries the risk of rejection or infection.

With glass implants this is not the case. Bone repair, healing and recovery time would be much quicker and the patient would have much less stress wondering how long that health insurance money was going to last.

In this new procedure, a cloudy looking glass implant containing small pore holes that looks similar to bone will be put in place. The implant reacts with bodily fluids once in place and gradually dissolves, bonding to the patient’s bone and immediately being able to support the body. Further bone will then grow over this. In a clever way, the implant will dissolve at the same rate that new bone grows and replaces it.

The implants also emit silicone which sends signals to the body’s receptors that tell it to produce more bone. This new material has been developed from a product that was discovered in the Seventies when they found a glass powder which, when applied to broken bones, could only be broken if the bone itself was broken.

Advancing technology has allowed scientists to use that discovery until surgeons are now in a position to put it into regular practice.

This is being hailed as a breakthrough, particularly for the elderly whose bones take longer than average to heal. Every year, many elderly people suffer broken hips and have to go through the agony of hip replacement. It is thought that it will be possible to use these implants in the majority of cases. Another favoured application will be the repair of cleft palates in children as the repair will be immediately useable and will do away with the need for further surgery as the child grows.

When you’re learning about something new, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

If you’re feeling sluggish, or you think you’re always full and the food has settled in your stomach, undigested. If you think you’re fat and need to lose weight. And if you think that you’ve ingested more than the allowed preservatives and additives into your body and your liver’s starting to show symptoms of abuse, then it’s time for you to go on a Detox program.

Detox or detoxification is the process of neutralizing or eliminating toxins from the body. Detox plans may be in different forms and ways – from regular exercise to body scrubs and spa massages, to yoga and meditation. But the simplest and the most common perhaps is to go on a detox diet.

A detox diet is a program that minimizes the chemicals ingested into the body by going for organic food. It highlights food like vitamins and antioxidants that the body needs for detoxification. It also involves taking in of food that will aid in the elimination of toxins like high fiber food and water. It generally suggests a high intake of fresh vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts and lots of fluids, while cutting down on caffeine, alcohol, yeast and sugars.

So why go for a detox diet? If you’re a regular fast food chain eater, you’ve probably ingested many fat-soluble chemicals contained in the French fries, cheeseburgers, twisters and soft drinks you’ve consumed. An ‘overload’ of these chemicals in the body can lead to illness and conditions like liver malfunction, kidney problems, hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiencies and inefficient metabolism. And the most common symptoms of these illnesses are the usual fatigue, poor skin and low tolerance to pain.

By going on a detox diet, people would have improved energy, clearer and fairer skin, a regular bowel movement, improved metabolism and digestion, increased concentration. Generally, it spells wellness and a better well-being.

A word of caution… though anyone is allowed to take on a detox diet, pregnant women or those who are nursing are cautioned not to go on such plans as they need the necessary nutrient for nursing. And unless recommended by a doctor, people with anemia, eating disorders, heart disease, low immunity, low blood pressure, ulcers, cancer, the underweight or those suffering from alcohol or drug dependency should try on a detox diet. Furthermore, such detox diet programs should be properly planned with the doctor and a nutritionist.

Other Things You Need to Know

Side effects may occur within the first few days of starting the detox diet. There’s headache and a general feeling of weakness as the body is adjusting to the change in food intake. So it is recommended to start your diet plan gradually or on Fridays when you won’t be doing much physical activity or requiring much energy. Others may experience diarrhea as the body eliminates the toxins, so take care not to be dehydrated. Drink plenty of water.

Take note that such detox diet programs should not be done for a long time. They are normally recommended to be done at least one to two times a year, and should be done during the warm months.

If you’re thinking of getting started, make sure you consult a doctor or a nutritionist. Read up on detox diets and seek advice from the experts. Remember: Too much is bad. After all, you’re doing it to improve your health, not ruin it!

Old habits die hard, don’t they? With hypnosis it doesn’t have to be difficult at all.

If you’re tired of being dragged down by your mind’s habitual negativities… If you’re looking for greater inner happiness, joy, and peace in your life… If none of your previous efforts have been able to provide lasting positive change… If negative mentalities, bad habits, and addictions always seem to lurk back into place… If you’re tired of feeling “stuck” in any area of your life… If you want a real permanent breakthrough… hypnosis is an incredibly simple and highly effective choice.

There are a whole lot of silly hypnosis myths that are perpetuated in movies and other forms of media. Authentic therapeutic hypnosis is so effective as a therapy that even the American Medical Association (AMA) recommends its use.

What hypnosis does is bring you into a heightened state of consciousness and awareness. Instead of your mind running on autopilot in a stressful manner when confronted with particular situations, you will be more awake, more cognizant, and you will have the ability to watch your thoughts, let them go, and choose a different way of thinking and acting. It essentially just makes you more aware of your mind’s thought processes, which then allows you to change them.

The mind is everything.

How your mind works determines how you live your life. It determines whether you are at conflict with the world, or at peace with it. It determines what and how you eat, how you react to all situations, what you believe you are capable of, and what your limitations are. It determines what you can and cannot do without, what you do and don’t do, what you are attracted to, and what you are afraid of. It determines what you consider to be important and unimportant, what you do with your life, and what you think life is about. It determines whether you blame or forgive, and it determines your level of inner happiness, joy, and completion.

How your mind works determines literally everything about your life, and the relationship you have with the rest of the world.

Absolutely everything is a perception (that can be changed), and absolutely everything stems from the mind. It’s not what’s going on “out there” in the external world that matters. It’s what’s going on “in here” in your mind and heart that matters. Everything has to do with the ingrained programming of your mind.

Most people live their lives with their mind on complete autopilot, without even realizing that they have the ability to take complete control of it. These people basically live their lives in a state of sleep, completely unaware that they can change the way their mind works.

They believe they are at the mercy of how their mind works, and that their capabilities are limited. They think “this is how I am, and I can’t do anything about it”, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth.

People just aren’t yet aware of this information, nor do they yet realize just how easy it can be to change when something like hypnosis is utilized.

If you have never thought of yourself as an athlete or very athletic, I urge you to get over that now. Especially if you have ever used that as an excuse to dodge exercise or in any way avoid moving your body. Like declining to take part in recreation, games, dancing, any exercise or movement, because you believe you are not athletic, and will not do well.

If you fall into this category, from now on I want you to think of yourself as an athlete. Because you are, no matter how big a klutz or how non-athletic you think you are.

You are an athlete and I encourage you to treat yourself like an athlete. And that means getting regular physical exercise. Training, working out, practice, drilling, repetitions, whatever you want to call it. Dedicated athletes never miss their workouts, their practice. Follow that pattern and you will see fat melt from your body, I promise you. It is one of the most effective fat loss techniques I know of.

I have personally gotten remarkable fat loss results from thinking of myself as an athlete, and treating myself that way. In fact, I think of and treat myself like an elite athlete, performing at Olympian levels of skill. That is my personal choice and it works spectacularly for me. Thinking that way and taking care of myself that way, you can bet I never miss my daily exercise, and I do not.

For the better part of my life I thought of myself as not very athletic. I never considered myself an athlete by the time I graduated from high school. I played some Little League, played football one year in high school and enjoyed various sports, but I never became particularly skilled at any of them. So I bought into the absurd notion that I was not an athlete, and believed that for many years. No more.

It helps to understand just what an athlete is: somebody who has the necessary abilities to participate in physical exercise, especially in competitive situations such as games, races, and matches.

I urge you to carefully read that definition again, and open your mind as you do. Notice that first half: somebody who has the necessary abilities to participate in physical exercise. That includes everyone, including people who are in wheelchairs, and amputees and other physically challenged folks who climb mountains, play tennis, snow ski, participate in track and field, play basketball, water ski and every other recreation and sport you can possibly think of.

The big point is that a person who is totally paralyzed and can only wiggle their left thumb is participating in physical exercise when they wiggle their left thumb. They qualify as an athlete. And so do you, whatever your physical shape or level of athletic skill.

The second half of the definition is where many people get hung up, especially folks who do not think of themselves as athletic. Those who might tend to sit on the sidelines and not participate in activities involving physical movement. It says, especially in competitive situations such as games, races, and matches.

Now, that is what an athlete is, many people say, those who compete in games, races, matches, contests of athletic skill. But that is a very narrow and limiting definition of an athlete. A person, say, who enjoys jogging or running, and runs or jogs for the pure pleasure of it, and chooses not participate in races is no less an athlete than runners who race.

Same with a bicyclist, dancer, archer, weight lifter, horseback rider, skier, or any other person who does not care to compete. They are still athletes. Not sort of athletes. Or not really athletes. They are athletes. And so are you and anybody else who moves in any way.

Absorb that. No matter what you do or how you do it, if you move in any way, you are an athlete.

Now the final hang up to rid yourself of is anything that has you saying things like, okay, but I am not very good at it. Get rid of that. Stop judging yourself and your performance and instead just enjoy. Do not buy into the absurd and dehumanizing nonsense of comparing yourself to anyone else athletically.

You are an athlete. And athletes get daily exercise, in whatever way they enjoy. Do the same and you will lose fat and get fit healthfully, permanently, guaranteed.
