This is a really good scale

I agree with the others: this is really a great scale for weighing babies and pets.
First of all, it's very accurate. Of course, as with all digital scales, if you put the weight on and then take it off and then put it back on again, you won't get the exact same reading twice. It's just the nature of digital scales (somethign to do with variations in the inductive current). But with this scale the variations are small.
Two features really make this stand out: the hold feature and the zero-out feature.
"Hold" allows you to weigh a baby or pet that moves around a lot. When the subject moves in the tray, the scale will register different weight readings (because the point of impact changes). By pressing the Hold button, the scale takes an average of its readings over the course of a couple seconds. This average is usually more representative of the subject's true weight. This is just a great feature, as any parent or pet owner can attest.
The Zero-Out feature is great for weighing babies. Babies wear diapers. Also, when you weigh a baby, you shuold put a blanket on teh tray because the plastic tray is hard and cold. After you put a blanket and a diaper on the tray, press the Zero Out button and the scale resets the 0 point so when you weigh the baby, his or her true weight will show up on the LCD. This saves you the hassle of having to subtract the blanket-cum-diaper weight yourself. This even allows you to weigh the baby with clothing on; just pre-weigh and zero out the extra weight first.
I love this scale. I just hope it lasts for a long time. BTW it's good for weight up to 60 lbs. As the baby grows into a child, just remove the tray (held by a single screw) and the child can stand on the scale. |
Scale used for weighing cats

I don't know about babies but this scale works very well for weighing large cats, some of whom are interested in going somewere else. The reading will shift around a little as the cat moves and the feature to lock the reading is very helpful. Compared to a kitchen scale that reads in 5 gram increments, it appears to be accurate. The scale seems solidly built. I haven't had it long enough to talk about long term durability.

We recently received our scale and are very happy with it. It seems to be well made and has some nice features. We especially like the zero out ability so that we can put a blanket under the baby and still get an accurate weight. In addition the hold button allows us to get an correct weight on our squirmy toddler by averaging the last few readings. The day we received it my son had a doctor's appointment and this scale read the exact same weight as the one at the doctor's office. Well worth the money.

It is a very convenient baby scale and easy to read the readout. However, the surface is too hard for a soft baby head. It has a zero out function and a towel is placed for placing the baby head. Other than that it is a very good scale. Even after 30% discount, the price is still much higher than a household scale (around $30). If you really want to track your baby's weight, that is worth it. My little dinosaur has an acid reflux and needs a close monitoring of his weight.

I bought this to weigh my cat, who has trouble keeping weight on due to a chronic illness, and who also hates to go to the vet every week just to be weighed. Given that he is a cat, I definitely needed the Hold feature, which allows the scale to take a weight reading even if the occupant is shifting around. The display is easy to read, and the scale bed is the perfect size for a cat; it's also easy to wipe off. Finally, it's light and fits easily in the bathroom cabinet under the sink. Have used it weekly for months now and am totally satisfied.

I do the "great bunny weigh in" on this scale. I have pet rabbits that I monitor their weight monthly for good health reasons. This scale has a digital display with pounds and ounces which is great since their weight changes in small amounts. It allows you to put a towel on it and "zero out" so you know you are getting an acurate reading of the weight. It is a perfect size for a small pet (probably up to 15-20lbs. It is not too large which makes it easy for storing. I am happy I purchased this scale!

I have a cat that suddently stopped eating on its own. I need to track its weight daily. This scale is perfect for my needs, as it weighs in 1/2 ounce increments, and the hold feature makes it possible to get an accurate reading on an animal that really doesn't want to be there! It also gives the same reading as my vet's scale, so I am confident of its accuracy.

Bought the scale to weigh my 24 lb. cat as he loses weight. Cat weight loss needs to be slow and measured in ounces not pounds like people. Very accurate and the hold button is a great feature. Would definitely recommend this product. It may seem a bit spendy at first---Well worth the money for accurate weight. P.S. Last weigh in was 21.1 lbs.

Easy to use. Both lbs and kg, though accuracy in kg is higher. Accurate up to 1/2 oz or 10g. The "Hold" feature, which automatically takes multiple readings and averages them, is reasonably useful for weighing moving subjects. The same 9V battery has lasted for over 3 years and is still going strong.
Great Baby Scale

This scale is terrific, and has brought me much peace of mind. As a breastfeeding first-time mom, I was anxious about whether my daugther was getting enough to eat, especially since she had a difficult time regaining her birth weight in the beginning. Being able to check her weight once a week is a great relief. Caution, do not check your baby's weight too often (like each day) because the scale is so sensitive that whether or not your baby has had a bowel movement that day can affect the reading. Since infants gain about an ounce a day, checking one a week will give an accurate picture of if the baby is gaining or losing weight in total. The scale is light enough to carry in one hand (baby in other), low enough to slide under a crib and relatively inexpensive.

This scale is perfect for weighing my baby and makes a first time mom feel better knowing her baby is gaining weight properly. It has a hold feature for when the baby won't stay still as well as a button that subtracts the weight of a diaper, blanket, etc.. for a more accurate reading. I weighed my baby the morning of her doctor's visit and it showed the same weight as the doctor's scale, so it is accurate.

I got this for my preemie after he was having weight issues. We were nursing and we never knew how much he was getting as he never seemed satified. The lactation nurse suggested weighting him occasionally after feedings. As a test we weighted some empty bottles, then added 2-8 oz of milk. It always read perfect. So we have been weighing our little one before and after random feedings. It does show a different between when he eats well and when he is not so interested. As a nurse I feel it has been a good reference and makes me more confident to continue nursing.

I ordered this product because my baby was premature. It works great. I would weigh my baby before I go to the doctor and it is always only 1 or 2 ozs off. So I think that is very accurate for a digital scale. The zero out feature is a plus. You can lay a blanket down instead of laying baby down on cold plastic!!!

I like to weigh my daughter each month to see how much she weighs. I didn't want to have to keep bringing her to the dr and pay all of those co-pays just to have her weighed. I went online and searched for baby scales and I really liked this one. But it costs so much more on other sites. Some sites have this priced for over $100. So when I came across it on this website for a lot less I bought it right away. It's even better than I was hoping. It's so easy to use, the cradle will hold the babies weight, it's very sturdy, and it's really cute too. I'm so glad I got this. I recomend this to anyone who is thinking of getting it. It's worth the money.

Our newborn was slow to gain weight (BFing). This scale was invaluable in letting me know, on a day to day basis, that she was indeed gaining weight after I made changes to improve how BFing was going. I was also able to weigh her before a feeding and after to see how much she was getting at each feeding. It was also accurate to the pediatrician's scale (weighed before appointments). It is accurate to the 1/2 ounce. One great feature is the Zero Out feature, where you can place a diaper and onesie or a soft towel on the scale, zero it out, and place your baby on the scale, so the baby doesn't have to be naked or lie on the hard surface. (I would recommend a soft towel...makes for a less squirmy baby). I can also use the scale for our toddler, since it goes up to 55 lbs. It can be used to weigh mail. It's just a wonderful product, and I'm so happy we bought it!
Baby Scale Review

I have been using this product for about a month and am extremely satisfied with the functionality and quality. The scale has a zero-out function that is very useful for weighing our newborn with a blanket and/or diaper intact. The hold feature works well and gives consistent results. This button averages out the weight of the baby over a short time period (1 or 2 seconds) and allows me to get a consistent reading of weight, even when our baby is fussing and moving around. One two occasions, fluid in the "baby-holder" portion of the scale leaked through a screw down into the base. I had to turn the base upside down to drain the fluid, but it apparently did not damage the functionality of the unit.

This scale truly gives peace of mind to the mom who worries if her baby is gaining enough weight or getting enough milk through breastfeeding. I agree with many of the reviews that the "hold" and "zero out" options are extremely useful. For myself, specifically, the scale reassured me that my baby was getting enough breastmilk by weighing her before and after a feeding. It was always accurate and consistent. This was a smart buy and, in retrospect, would have been great to receive as a shower gift.

I purchased this baby scale after my 2 months old baby has refluct problem and reduced her milk intake. I was really eager to monitor my baby's weight. This product works great and well worth the money (Bought this for $50 after a instant rebate from sunbeam). The most improtant thing for scale is accuracy. This is the number 1 criteria I have. This scale is accurate and within 1/2 ounce accuracy when i compared with the scale from the doctor's office. In addition to accuracy, the scale comes with function like zero out and hold. Zero out is good when i don't want to totally undress my baby and the hold function is really useful when the baby is active.. I like the fact that this baby scale can be converted to toddler scale and I can rely on it to chart my child's growth to toddlerhood. In short, it's a GREAT product!

My baby lost too much weight starting out and was slow to gain it back - we initially rented a scale from a lactation consultant but at a cost of $5 a day it wasn't an effective long-term solution. This scale was perfect - we didn't need something accurate to the tenth of an ounce - just something to let us know if the weight was going up adequately. The zero-out feature was great for factoring in the weight of a diaper and a onsie, and the "hold" feature was great for a wiggling baby. The price was awesome as well - some of the scales we looked at were anywhere from a few hundred to over a thousand dollars, and this one has the added benefit of being able to grow with our child to use when he's a toddler as well!

I used this to roughly estimate my daughter's intake when we were encountering milk supply difficulties. It helped assure me over a period of a few months that we were improving. I initially rented a much more accurate and expensive scale until I knew we were doing better then purchased this so I could keep tabs in general. (Note: if you have milk supply difficulties please see a lactation consultant for assistance.)
It was easy to use when she was an infant. Now that she's a toddler it's hard to get her to stand still on the base unit so I've actually packed this up and stored it until she's less squirmy. |

This is a must-have for new parents! The scale is extremely accurate and reliable. It is sensitive enough to measure items weighing one-half of an ounce (a small diaper, for example). The "Hold" feature which measures the average weight is handy especially if your infant won't lie still. It also has features that probably won't be widely used, for example, the zero-out feature. The surface that holds the baby could have been made a little more comfortable.

We bought this to weigh both my newborn and toddler on. It is very accurate and we like it a lot. We got ours for $60, I guess the price went up a bit. The only gripe I have about this scale is that it is hard to figure out my toddler's weight because he moves so much and the weight reading doesn't stabilize. I've seen some baby scales with an "averaging" feature -- the scale will rest on a number and the number will read out on the screen. My active 2 year old moves so much that the numbers bounce up and down and it is impossible to know his actual weight (unless he is calm - a rarity)

This product works very well. Take it out of the box and it's ready to go. Syncs up pretty well to the big fancy scale at the doctor's office for a fraction of the price. This is the scale you should buy.
Very Accurate

We bought this scale to weigh our new baby and follow her growth. This scale is very similar to the Health-o-Meter we use in the ER so I thought I would try it out at home. Now that we have had it a few weeks we have been able to check it against our pediatricians scale and it has matched ever time to within an ounce. It has a 'Zero Out' function so I put on a blanket for padding a new diaper and a matching onesie to what my daughter is wearing on the scale and then zero the scale. Then when you remove the new diaper and onesie the scale will show a negative weight (about 1.5 oz) then when we put her on the scale wearing her diaper and onesie we can get an accurate baby only weight without disturbing her too much by having to undress her. If you are tracking their weight you should weigh them at the same time of day (for example noon or midnight) each time just like we do at the hospital. The scale has a 'hold' function to try and compensate for a wiggly baby but I find it to be less accurate than just watching the results and averaging them in your head. If you weigh them just after they wake up then they are a lot less wiggly and this helps get more accurate measurements. I have used much more expensive hospital-grade scales (for example Madella BabyWeigh) and if you want to measure baby consumption before and after a feeding then they are perfect for that use. However if all you want is baby weight for charting or just peace of mind then I highly recommend this scale.
Best Scale Ever!!!

I love this scale! The "hold" feature is the best part... normally, when baby is kicking and fussing you can't get an accurate number (the weight jumps around with the baby's movements)... not this scale, just press the "hold" key and the scale will automatically calculate the accurate weight - no more guessing an average! Also, I love the fact that I can continue to use this scale beyond newborn stage... a great investment for years to come.
this is a great buy

After some BF supply problems we weren't sure exactly how much my daughter was getting at each feeding. I bought this scale so we could know how much to supplement. It is great! It is very accurate and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this to others!
Easy and useful; check weight or feeding amounts

This scale is very easy to use and useful for checking weight on a baby. It reads in 1/2 oz increments. The weights seem to correspond to the doctor's scale. It has been a real help to us as our baby is dealing with slow weight gain. The scale is even precise enough to measure the amount of breastmilk she takes in (weigh her before and after feedings) -- great knowledge for a mom with low supply issues!

It works great and is bang for the buck at amazon.com - I can weigh almost everything under 60lb to the last oz or gram accuracy.

This scale has been accurate, easy to use, and very helpful. I use it to weigh my 5.5 month old son for fun and out of curiosity. My friends and neighbors often use it to track their infants' weights as well, which is especially important when weight gain or breastfeeding problems develop. I think this is great for new moms!

We used this scale to relieve our anxiety about a little one's weight gain. We found it to be very close to the doctor's scale, and for our peace of mind it has been worth every penny.
When weighing babies keep in mind that a baby's weight does not increase every day, and also may vary within a day by a few ounces.
Many digital scales (and for that matter, most consumer-product digital measuring devices including thermometers) do not actually measure the same precision as their markings - for example, thermometers marked in tenths of degrees may provide a reading within 1 or 2 whole degrees of the temperature - which is completely pointless when one needs to track small variations! Happily, this scale seems to provide consistent measurements within +/- one-half ounce. |
It works great! But only on a battery...

I was surprised to find out that when I got it and set it up I couldn't use it right away because I didn't have a 9 volt battery. It didn't say in the description it needed a battery or even how it was powered. I needed this scale for my preemie daughter is was medically labeled failure to thrive to monitor her weight gain myself and update doctors regularly by phone. I love the hold feature on this and also the fact that for the great price it has a higher weight limit on it than even the more expensive models and also that it does 1/2 oz. increments which I feel is important in a baby scale. This is my third child and thrid scale; since I breatfeed I like to weigh my kids daily. I can even weigh an extra outfit similar to what she's wearing and a diaper and then use the zero out feature to get her exact weight. It's great. I even got free shipping and $10 off from the manufacturer the day I purchased it. At $58 it was a steal since it is $89.99 plus shipping at Target.com. Her nursery is teddy bear themed so it even matches her room!! UPDATE: I have been using my scale daily for almost 6 months now and it is still on the first battery. Still lovin this scale!

This is a good scale for infants. Its within 4 oz of the readings we get at the doctor's office. We do wish it was a little longers so that our baby's legs wouldn't stick out (she's 10 months now). The "hold" feature that allows you to get a weight even when the baby is moving, fidgeting, squirming etc is great.
Great Cat Scale

I bought this scale to monitor my cat's weight. After initially freaking out, my cat now calmly stands on his scale until his weight is calculated.
The scale is a little expensive, but seems sturdy and I have had no problems. The weight also correlates to the vet's, so I am fairly confident with the accuracy. |
Very helpful purchase

We had a baby that was not eating properly (nursing)and had actually lost weight. I didn't trust that she was getting enough milk so we not only weighed her but used it to measure her intake. The scale was not as accurate as the professional one we rented at first but it wasn't as expensive either. Although, the measurements weren't perfect they were pretty close. I highly recommend the scale! It has helped bring me a lot of peace of mind.

The scale itself works great to get my daugthers weight and saves me trips to the Peditricians office every 2 weeks. The screw that keeps the top portion attached does not come off. It was striped the first time we used it. So we cannot get my sons weigth now. But other than that, great product.

We had some breastfeeding problems with our newborn, so having this scale gives me peace of mind knowing how much milk she is getting. Also buying this scale was cheaper than renting one from my lactation consultant.
Parts Problem

The scale works great, but I purchased it to weigh parcels for shipment; and when I removed the tray and tried to insert the plugs, they didn't fit correctly. They kept falling out because they were too small. I contacted the company via email and I was surprised to learn that they won't just send me replacement parts. They want me to send the scale to a company in Missouri for repair, which will take four to six weeks. Not liking this at all.

Amazon is such a worst company, worst customer support, worst policies with delivery. Buy products from some American company, where they have call center in USA.
